2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

If they wanted to take a bad deal for a pick, Jabari's pretty much expiring deal could be valuable for Chicago. It would be kind of like Cleveland taking Dellie and Henson for a pick.

Just came here to post that. What a fall from grace. He was always touted as an optimistic, good guy, but that’s been shot to **** in under a year.
Uhh, wut? You can be a good guy and optimistic and just be terrible at defense.

We have our first Favors sighting in trade conversation: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ya...-early-trade-window-approaches-184040475.html

"Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz: Favors re-signed on what is a de facto one-year, $18 million contract. He’s signed for 2019-20, but that year is fully non-guaranteed. The Jazz are off to a bumpy start, and Favors has been in and out of the starting lineup, depending on matchups. If Utah decides to go in a different direction, Favors would be a great option for playoff teams that need another big man, but value cap flexibility this summer."

In the end, a good offensive scoring game brings the big dollars, that’s just a fact.

Spoken like a true Jabari Parker. How about instead of bringing all high-scoring players, we worry about players who help in wins in all kinds of ways, particularly defense?

You do understand that I am talking about salaries, yes? Not overall impact on wins, per se, or how to construct a successful NBA team, with the supporting skills needed.

Check the top 15-20 salaries in the nba, and name me a player that doesn’t score? Rudy is considered elite in defense only, the DPOY, doesn’t even figure in the top 30 in salaries.

This whole change to freedom of movement emphasises offense even more, and we asked for it didn’t we? A team that identifies itself with defense.

Is it so hard to understand that offense is the greatest factor in terms of size of contract? Of course if you’re a player you don’t say silly things like Jabari.

Jabari would be tough to keep on the court in a playoff series against the top teams. No thanks.

Defense is extremely important. You have to be in the top-10 or close to top-10 defense to win a championship.

Absolutely defense is important. I agree with that.

I think it's important for each individual player on the roster, top to bottom, in this NBA though. Unless you're an all-star caliber player, you've got to be a solid defender or else you're just attacked over and over, especially from the likes of GS, Houston, Toronto, Boston, etc...

He’s selfish and lacks maturity and self awareness. His comments on defense were telling and I get the impression from guys like Tony Jones that he has some attitude issues.

That said... Boylen is off to an amazing start. I’m shocked the guy who comes in like a HS hardass coach isn’t connecting and getting the most out of his young guys.

We were considering him as HC before deciding on Quin, reportedly.
