What's new

Jaylen Brown

Nice big wing defender who has to be respected from deep.

Unhappy with his role, bad fit on his current team, tons of talent. All time low trade value (still a hefty price I’m sure).

What would it take? Are you interested? What do the Celtics want?

Discuss.

Like him, but honestly, our tradeable assets blow.

Have to be some of the worst in the league.

So I don’t think we can get him unless we’re willing to give up multiple 1sts.

I think his situation is an interesting quandary. Nobody else would deal for him, as you mention, but how do you make a deal for someone without using him as salary? Would a team on the receiving end even take a deal like that? I suppose over the summer, he'd then be a two-year contract. Is Boston stuck with him, as in, would they deal him if they didn't have to give up assets but didn't take salary back? My assumption is no, but at what point is his contract hindering?
I think Hayward to NOLA makes sense to be honest. They're not really in a position from a business perspective to flat out tank as they struggle to stay profitable even with an All NBA talent there, and they might want to stay competitive for a few more years before really blowing up the team to tank around 2022/2023 where the potential double draft could happen. I've mentioned before that if NOLA uses the Lakers as bait to get Ainge to part with Tatum, they might be able to get something like Tatum/Hayward/Horford/picks for AD/Hill which makes them a pretty interesting team in a Gentry system

Payton?
Jrue
Tatum
Mirotic
Horford

Hayward 30+ mins guy off the bench, along with Randle/Moore/bench filler is an interesting squad in an up tempo system, and if Hayward gets close to all star caliber again you can easily start him and bring Mirotic off the bench instead. The only real question mark is the PG position, but even then they might be able to get Rozier off the Celtics too and be ready to give him an extension.

idk I just don't see the Pelicans flat out tanking if AD decides to go

That’s the vibe I get too... they should do the tank re-build but they are already bottom third of the league in attendance and I’m guessing their prices are likely some of the lowest in the league... with a top 5 player.

I think Danny will do everything possible to keep Tatum out of the deal. Brown Hayward a million picks is my guess. Ingram Kuzma and a couple picks might be a better trade package.

New Orleans isnt Indiana. Hayward isnt selling tickets for a non-playoff team in the Big Easy, even if he's playing great.

I agree in a sense that our young guys outside of DM really don’t have much value. Grayson likely has some value but not playing really hurts his value... Bradley has no value.

Being able to offer up picks could get a lot done though... teams are not offering picks right now. If/when some teams become sellers a pick may net something good.

Right but they likely feel they can’t have a non competitive team and Hayward theoretically helps there.

I 100% agree that Ainge will do everything he can to keep Tatum out of the deal, and in all likelihood NOLA are probably dumb enough to do a deal without Tatum involved too. But Tatum is by far and away the best possible asset that NOLA can get out of a deal with either team (I think all of the Lakers young guys are very flawed in one way or another), and it's been well known that the Celtics long term play has been to stockpile assets to offer a Godfather package for an All NBA type guy like AD.

Ingram/Kuzma/Ball/picks might be a better package without Tatum involved, but if NOLA tells Boston "Put Tatum in the deal or we're sending AD to LA" you better believe Ainge is going to part with him. Particularly if it means he can get off Hayward's deal too.

Except even our picks don’t have that much value since most GM’s would project them to be in the 20’s.
