Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

Neemias Queta looks extremely impressive, he's born July '99 according to this FIBA page.. He could blow up into the 1st rd.

I'm shocked that people here aren't fawning over the idea of Darius Garland running point. What kills me is remembering all the hype for Trey Burke... This kid is way ****ing better than Burke ever was, already.

used to always say Burke got tons of extra hype because of the national player of the year campaign and the silence on Garland here to me further reinforces that point..

If Utah is looking to catch lightning in a bottle, this is the target. I've been posting about Garland for many, many years, and i'm gonna be right.. first noticed him checking in on Marvin Bagley at Peach Jam summers ago when he was 5'7" (never seen a kid that size/age who could shoot better than Garland....) now he's 6'2" or 6'3".

For the remainder of this thread I'm gonna continue to be here talking big **** about Garland, because the chances he backs it up are extremely high..

Look at the mechanics of Garland's shot.. Look at how insanely quick his release is, this would be a big deal for the halfcourt offense, he's a major space-eater.... I believe there's minor traces of Steph Curry in his game..

Ricky Rubio is a nobody compared to Garland the way I see it. Garland is capable of efficiency Rubio can only dream about.

Garland is both high ceiling and high floor, which is ideally what Utah needs from this pick.

Garland, I believe, is the best player to play HS basketball in Tennessee since Shawn Marion.

Fwiw the state of Tennessee hasn't put out very many NBA players the past 2 decades. Only a few players and Wiseman id have I st Garland and I think Garland will be a fine player but a recall another former Vandy pg that you were very high on. Forg the the name. You ampped him up as better then Exum. Again FWIW.

Ablodouye N'Doye on Rudy's old team Cholet is 19/39 from 3 so far this season, could be working his way back into draft range. I saw some highlights he looks lean compared to summers ago when I saw him play with Ntilikina.

Haliburton from ISU had a very good game against Kansas today. Horton-Tucker shows a lot of defensive promise (I have no idea how the box score has him with 0 blocks), but can't put it in the hoop right now.

two frosh PGs to keep an eye on a facing each other in a game i'm watching right now - UK vs Bama. Kira Lewis of Bama will finish the season at age 17. may not be an NBA prospect right now, but he reminds me a bit of SGA in the sense that he's very long, plays under control, plays smart and despite his youth his team really looks to him to control the offense, control tempo and make decisions. good shooter, 47% FGs and 40% 3pt with a good stroke. having some trouble finishing in this game, but he looks like the real deal. could play his sophomore year and still be relatively young even compared to freshmen in the 2020 draft.

Ashton Hagans - simply not productive enough at this point to be a serious prospect, but won the starting job there at UK with his play and he's the best ball hawk i've seen in college basketball since Marcus Smart. Can change a game with his ability to get after the ball, play passing lanes, etc. is another young player who does a great job of playing under control. good quickness and good enough size for a PG.

really like both of these PGs.

I'm convinced: This draft is going to be trash if you don't get the 1st pick

Maybe there are some good 3&D role players, but holy hell there arent any "cant miss" high upside picks outside Zion.

Zion could be a once in a life-time type player, but after that, I just don't know.

I still like Barrett, but he also has a lot of Wiggins to his game without the elite athletic ability. He's probably a starter, but I'm not sure he's a good one.

The last two drafts provided the next generation of stars. This draft will probably supply the next generation of Jeff Greens.

yeah, barrett has a lot of wiggins to him. and i love zion. he just has that star quality besides the freakish size/athleticism. but even with him, shooting is a concern. not that he can't overcome to still be great (like Ben Simmons) it or improve it, but it is a major flaw.

I'm really not that concerned about Zion. I think he will be an All-Star. The question (for me) is if he's like a HOF type player.

Iowa State is impressive. Haliburton is probably their best NBA prospect followed by Shayok, Weiler-Babb and Wigginton. But they play smart, can shoot it and have some depth.

Zion was really impressive today vs Clemson. He showed the entire arsenal. 25 and 10 on 9-11 FGs. He's just so good. Barrett was less selfish than i remember seeing him all year - for once wasn't unwatchable. And it's crazy how bad Reddish sucks at college basketball. He is the reason one and done is a good thing - if he doesn't play college ball, he might have been a top 5-8 pick in the draft. and he sucks. sucks at pretty much every aspect of playing basketball at the college level. it's not just piss poor shooting, but he has so many negative plays out there.

Reddish and Grimes are probably the two most disappointing highly touted freshmen i've seen. Though to Grimes credit he has made himself useful by playing smart and being a hustle guy. He's a smart and skilled passer, he hustles and he's a decent spot up 3pt shooter. Doesn't try to do more than he's capable. But dude isn't an NBA player and probably never will be.

Iowa State pumps out more fringe NBA players than any other school.
