Quotes from the Pistons' forums-"Damn who is D-Mitch pissed at?"

I actually do. In another 2-3 weeks, they might just want to gut it. Favors, Exum, and Sef might get it done imo. Would prob have to throw in a 1st. I wouldn’t do it though.

Gutting it means they'd want to rebuild. Which means they'd want promising young players or good picks. Exum hasn't shown enough, and our pick isn't that valuable.

Gutting it also means shedding themselves of a **** ton of salary. Doing that + Favors and Exum may be worth it to them.

Why would they want to shed salary? They gave up Tobias Harris + I forgot who else just a few months ago to get Griffin. Why would they want to give him up for next to nothing? Shed salary, without prospects, only to watch the team lose? That doesn't make much sense.

Because they’ll quickly realize this team is awful as currently constructed.

That said, they should and would try to shed Drummond first. If they did that, which I doubt they can, then they have some wiggle room to construct a respectable roster.

Ya, trading Drummond to try to build around Griffin makes a bit of sense, if they think they can attract some FAs. Trading Griffin, would mean they want to rebuild, since they wouldn't have much of anyone to build around. And we don't have the assets to help them rebuild. If Exum was more consistently good, and less often injured, then maybe it would tempt them along with a 1st. But as it stands, we ain't getting Griffin.

I like the idea of Griffin until I think about him getting injured in the playoffs, ad nauseum.

Why would we want Griffin? Sure, he can jump over a Toyota and dunk the ball, but I don't think he's the team player we're looking for! I guess if we could get him cheap enough and not have to gut our current team, we might consider it. He's certainly loaded with athletic ability, but I have my doubts!
