To me the path of least resistance is to see if Naz is NBA ready. No one has to get cut. I think there are a certain number of games two ways can play. Also when Grayson heals play him at the point.
I’ve liked Naz when I’ve watched him with the Stars. NBA is a different game, but Naz seems okay to me as a backup to Neto.
As for the rest of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Donovan is the starting PG. I don’t really like that, I think it’s added pressure on Donovan that he doesn’t need right now. I didn’t realize there were so many wanting him to run the point, but to be completely honest he’s not very good at it right now. He’s not better than Neto at it. It’s just too much to ask him to facilitate and be our offense, it’s too much and it’s unfair if you’re asking him to take you to wins over the next few weeks as your point guard and leading scorer IMO. If you’re okay with “practice making perfect” and letting him grow during this process without worrying as much about wins I think you have to decide which is more important at this stage.
If you want to make the playoffs and wins are the goal I think you have to find a way to keep Donovan away from being put in the roll of having to be PG and the leading scorer. You can’t ask all of that of him, not right now. If you’re cool letting Donovan develop his PG skills, then you have to live with the results which honestly haven’t been great when he’s ran PG during extended periods.
I’ll think at this point you roll with Neto, give Naz some time, and hope Grayson gets back to fill some minutes at the 2 as well, while giving Joe and Donovan some minor minutes at PG and hope Dante gets back in due time. The worry of course being, Neto is also someone who gets injured a lot and we’ll see how long he lasts playing extended time.
One things for certain, this is a very bad time to have injuries stacking up especially in the same positions.
