Man... Josh Smith!!!

Yeah, sure, but how many rotations of the ball per second does his shot average? Does the angle of his shot at the height of his release point fall between 52 and 54 degrees? Riddle me THAT.

Monta Ellis, Josh Smith, Andre Ilgudola, Richard Jefferson, Ben Gordon, Tyreke Evans, Rashard Lewis.

These guys are high use/ low effeciency players. They put up big numbers on bad teams, and were rewarded with terrible contracts. They are great for fantasy basketball and terrible for making a succesfull NBA team unless you surround them with multiple guys who play the right way. If Smith was a 4th option, got paid like a 4th option and had an attitude like a 4th option, maybe.

But if you brought him in now he'd probably say something stupid like : "I'm a starter, I don't come off the bench."

I'm really impressed with Favors' form. His elbow stays in and his arm is perpendicular to the rim. You can tell he's still honing his shot as his touch isn't great but I'm very encouraged with his results last season in-game. Him releasing on his way down doesn't concern me too much as I'd rather him try to focus on every other step being correct before releasing first. When he starts shooting more fluently, his release should come at the top of his jump like everyone else.

And I've said it many times before, all Evans needs is reps and confidence. He has got a beautiful shot all the way through.

I think you may be a little more optimistic than me about Favors jumpshot, but I agree about the honing in part. It just looks like he is aiming it, and that completely throws of the fluidity of his shot. I think instead of practicing jumpshots, he should spend most of his time at the free throw line. Of course he needs to improve there, but if he can get his free throw shot fluid and consistent, then it will help with his release like you pointed out. Just my opinion on that.

Agree on Evans though, his shot is nice. I hope he keeps shooting as much as bulking up because he will be surprised how fast his shooting touch will be lost with added strength and muscle.

Great idea!

While we're at it, lets trade Harris and the #3 and #12 to the lakers for Luke Walton.

Lets also work to move Favors and Millsap over to the Heat for Erick Dampier.

No more "trade Al Jeferson" posts!! Please, explain to me why we are in such a hurry to get rid of someone, that everyone on the board wanted?? The guy has been with an incomplete team for less than a year. Let's wait a year or 2 before we pass judgement on the guy. Same goes for Harris!!

The Jazz need to draft Knight @ #3 and Singleton #12.

Can you imagine a front line with Josh Smith and Derrick Favors and maybe Valanciunas.

i cant imagine such a bad offensive frontcourt. Zero effectiveness. We will score no points in the paint.
Josh smith is all about stats, nothing else. Kirilenko is 10 times better than him, even if he is injured half of the season

"Youth movement" is what I'm saying about the Jazz. Which is another way of saying "Rebuild." Which is another way of saying "let's not waste time with fundamentally flawed players and/or big contract players in their prime."

The Jazz have a great opportunity to build a team the right way. There's no reason to compromise that with 'tards and chuckers.

this draft is our only and last chance to make this rebuilding process successfully. i hope we will get the best player available (hopefully kanter) and trade unnecessary players to open up space for younger talents. Im fine with not attending to playoffs 2 yrs if we r gonna be a contender after 2

I'd much rather have Smith than Kirilenko. I think Smith is potentially very good. I actually think if we still had Dwill and Sloan, he could have been an All-Star with the Jazz. Given the teams make up now, I dont think he is a good fit.

Smith is unfortunately on a team that has had a culture of 1 v 1 style offense for a while now, and I think that has infected his play. If had been developed by Sloan, I think he could have been very good.

he isnt very skilled in offensive end and going for blocks too much leaving his space open, its not what a good defender does, for me he is too much of a showman

I will admit I like Josh smith just not in this trade. Atl wants to get rid of his contract. That is what atl wants. We could get smith a lot cheaper then this. I wouldn't mind him playing for the jazz but the would have to take jink back. Memo, bell and or miles and a future pick yes (I know it is promised to minny). Atl won't take that so I am not interested.
