Retire Ron Boone's number

I know the Stars was in the ABA but hell, the Pelicans have Pistol Pete's number retired, why cant we create some sort of movement telling the Jazz, "hey, Boone was important to Utah, let's retire a number for him. I know 1 and 12 are retired for the Jazz, but he also wore number 24. Let's give "The Chief" a good honor by letting him know that we havent forgotten about him and the Stars

I sent a message to @utahjazz about retiring #24 saying #retireboone it would mean a lot to me, but even more to Ron Boone if we can try to get @utahjazz to notice that Ron Boone isn't forgotten for the time he played with the Stars. I mean, hell, he is nominated to go into the hall of fame. #retireboone

I think he fully deserves it. He's been a class act for decades with this organization. I also hope they do it before he passes on. I've always liked Ron. He has a great basketball mind. He could easily have been a great coach.

I guarantee this has been talked about behind closed doors. This regime is big on being inclusive to older generation of players. Boone will be up there for broadcasting and I'm pretty confident it'll mention the stars in some capacity (have his jersey # and maybe have stars color on the banner). Hell, they even named the g league team the stars.

I never saw him play but based on his career stats, he was better than any of the other players up there, but Stock and Malone -- maybe on par with DG. I don't think they should've retired Pistol's number because he didn't play long enough, and despite everything I see online about his incredible abilities, I think he was overrated. Basketball is a team game and Pete was not about anything but himself. And he was worse than Boozer as a defender, and that is pretty awful for a guard.

I friccin love Boone... I’m for a jersey statue or whatever... make a hot rod and Boone statue... man I’ll bet the hot rod and booner road show was amazing back in the day.

Also of note I attend road jazz games in Oakland and Sacramento on occasion... Ron knows all the staff at the arenas and everybody loves that dude.

I just think it's about time that the Jazz recognizes the Stars in some fashion. They may not have the rights to the Stars name, but retiring the player that brought Utah its first pro basketball championships number doesn't mean you have to say the word Stars.

Say what you want about his color analysis, but the guy balled for Utah. Help me with the #retireboone

Ron Boone was a better player than an announcer but I approve of this. He has been with the team longer than Sloan, yo.
He was never really polished but as the color guy he did really well. Fantastic knowledge of the game, never afraid to call out our own when they are sucking, always saw the pertinent action in each play. Boone and hot rod were just about the perfect basketball announcing pair.

Boone is dumb as ****.

Just for your info Seattlejazzfan, Ron Boone suited up for 1,041 games straight between the ABA and the NBA, playing at least 20 minutes per game. Ya'll little boys in Seattle tell your women your gonna give them the best 45 seconds of their life, and you throw your back out half way there. This guy suited up for every game possible, playing through every injury for 13 years. You take a week off every time you get your feelings hurt. Tell your parents I just hurt em..... twice, and you won't be able to mow your parents lawn for at least 2 weeks.

Your point is that he was durable as a player, but dumb as **** as a broadcaster? I agree, ftr.
