Dante has been out forever because he ded

Call me crazy, but I still think Exum is a slightly positive asset. The guy has proven to be a good defender and able scorer at times.

Not too long ago we would have begged for a buy low high potential guy like Exum. We won't get a great asset for him, but he still has value somewhere.

When we were starting Arroyo and those dark PG days, if somebody offered us a 23 year old 6'6" PG who plays good defense and has a few 20+ point games on his resume, I think we would have been intrigued. We would have all said - "yeah he gets injured a lot but if he can stay healthy what an improvement he would be."

Healthy Exum would not be improvement over 2003-2004 Arroyo.

Saying he is injury prone, sure. Saying he isn’t talented and wouldn’t help us win, stupid.

Great choice to keep him out until after the all-star break. Its only 6 more games and will give him plenty of time to be 100%. Injured ligaments take 6 weeks to fully recover. There is not reason not to let him be all the way healed before bringing him back. We dont need him right now and he still has a very high ceiling. Good thing we have him on a great team friendly contract.

This is Exums 3rd injury in 5 years in the NBA. They have been bad timing but outside of the ACL not that big of a deal. ACL injuries suck but are very common for athletes. Every player rolls their ankle. Some play through it if they are not major and the team needs them back.

SB Nation theorized that they're holding Exum out in case he needs to be used as trade bait there's a better chance of him passing his physical .

I can't see how having a prolonged absence directly prior to trading a guy is a way to increase trade value... If we were planning on moving him I would think we might rush him back to say "look he's back... no injury concerns at all"

A sprained or sore ankle won't fail a physical.

A severely sprained ankle can sometimes take months to recover from. At this point, I’m more worried about Rubio or Gobert having ongoing hamstring issues.

Thats true, he has had some other injuries. Really he has just had the 2 that were significant. All players get nicked up with minor strains and injuries like an ankle roll. The time missed has been significant. The Jazz have taken extra precaution with him and kept him out a lot more than needed to take the safe route. His injuries have also come at bad times. Tearing an ACL right before the season starts is the worst time for it as far as games missing go. Rubio for example has had tons of injuries including tearing his ACL but he missed way less games due to tearing it mid season.
