2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

When will this fanbase learn that we are better off over trading for talent vs. signing somebody in FA... Our best option is selling the farm for somebody ala OKC trading for PG. There are around 10 other teams this off-season that will have similar or MORE cap space than the Jazz. "Waiting for the summer" is the dumbest strategy ever. Either make a move now or be stuck in 5-8 seed purgatory for the foreseeable future.
5 seed ain't so bad

OMG they are dumb... big difference between guys that are in their prime or headed to their prime and what they can get versus guys on the downside of their career.

DL needs to have Woj leak something where we are on the verge of a different trade using those assets... if they don't bite I think they keep him.

Memphis... gives up multiple seconds for Holiday... wants multiple firsts for Conley... just stop.

Biyombo is barely better than Udoh, and if that’s all we have if Rudy goes down then it’s game over. Charlottes pick is likely protected and they’re likely playoff team. Favors is a giant expiring-you might not think that has value but go ask the Clippers, Lakers, Philly,New York, Dallas, and the rest of the league if it’s valuable.

The bolded area is exactly what I was talking about. Use Favors' contract to get something for now or later. Charlotte was just an example.

You do know that Conley will eat up 1/3 our cap for the next 2.5 seasons? While costing us assets. He is a slight upgrade over Rubio. We dont even need another guard to take the ball out of DM's hands. The trade makes zero sense.

All for a guy who has never been an allstar. Shoots 43%. Has never had a 40+ pt game or 15+assist game
Ok. Good argument against Conley. If you were paying attention I'm already on record against dumping all our assets for Conley. But it's the contrast of being against Conley but for Parker that is asinine. Parker is the anthesis of a Jazz player and at least Conley is a proven commodity.

Ahh my bad , the snowpocalypse has me stuck at the airport with no WiFi. If you’re saying a bad contract is worth taking on a Conley (who is his own bad contract) or either Harris who are obviously upgrades than I agree

Just give the Clippers Thabo and a 1st for Lou Will. There is no reason for the Clippers to want to hold on to Lou Will after trading Harris. They aren't making the playoffs. They have a TON of young guards (SGA, Robinson, Shamet, Thornwell, etc). AND they are now in asset acquisition mode. They are gathering assets and cap space to try and trade for and/or sign stars. Thabo and a 1st for Lou Will gives them what they want.

And the Jazz get the shot creation and scoring they desperately need... FOR CHEAP. 8 mill a year.

If the Conley deal falls through, then for sure do what you can to trade our non-starter cap space. niko, one of the guards from the Clippers, a pick swap, something has to happen. Even a small something, as long as it’s not dumb.

DL won't do this. Idk why, but he won't. Jazz will be left empty handed yet again, and we will hear the same old drivel this summer about "we're always looking to improve yadayada blah blah..." and then they'll hope to land a once in a blue moon draft pick a la Donovan or Rudy in the draft and maintain "financial flexibility". Same old story every year.
