2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

You have to keep stepping to the next level there’s no finishing touch if you’re not up to that last step before finishing touch. It’s like Cousin Eddie being unemployed because “he’s holding out for a management position.”
You act like the Jazz have done this for 5 years in a row.

Jazz spent so many picks trying to get PGs in the past 6 years. They have made moves, big and small.

Jazz are going for the big game in free agency.

How many guys have to be renounced to offer Niko $15M? Calling it now... "Niko isn't worth losing Favors AND Rubio. He just isn't."

Dem bird rights doe.
I’m not claiming that. Let those birds ****ing fly for the love of god.

In trying to shoehorn Rubio and Favors, the Jazz have been using calculus to solve 2+2 and getting 3 as the answer. It’s not that complex, spread the ****ing floor and don’t allocate significant resources to bad fits.

For those keeping track, Dante Exum and the cost to acquire him has been:
-Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll
-a #5 pick
-dozens of millions of dollars and a roster spot
-max cap space this offseason
-Mike Conley

Let’s just keep praying that this organization’s feverish obsession with sinking costs into this lemon yields anything ever.

The Dante project may be the worst kind of fail... Fultz was traded today... they cut bait and got a minimal return. It was a fast fail... spent big draft capital but that's okay.

We have invested so much in Dante... then used draft capital for seemingly stop gap options in Hill and Rubio while he developed. It is obviously not all his fault, but continuing to double down can prove costly. We had a great excuse to get out of the project today (maybe who knows Grizz may have asked for more) and bet again.

It better work... there is almost no way it is a profitable en-devour based on sunk costs... but from here on out he better be worth his contract at least.

And I'm sick of people complaining that DL didn't do anything or even tried. It takes two to tango. We didn't have many assets and you will never know what other teams asked from Utah. What if the Wiz wanted Ingles in a Porter deal? Mirotic for 4 2nd rounders? (when we can have him this offseason) And what about Tobias? (Philly overpaid a lot). Utah didn't have the required assests or just felt those players weren't good enough (like Porter). It's dissapointing not to make a move (and make a better use of our little assets) but at the end of the day we have a competent GM and playoff caliber team.

If you didn’t get Porter because of Ingles, you’re nuts. Ingles is the most average player on the face of the earth.

I'd like to go on the record that I never wanted Mike Conley and his albatross contract on this team. I feel like I must be the only happy person on this board today (though getting something for Rubio would have been nice, at the same time reading his thoughts through the twitter made me want to keep him for personality alone).

That's the problem... Zach Lowe described it so well when he was like "the jazz need someone 10% better than Jae". We have the data... at some point it is okay to take a half step back and try something different if it has potential to unlock something great.
