Official Rubio Support thread

I'm in the 25% group then - I'm not crazy about either one of them.
This. We need an upgrade and didn't get it, so Ricky and Ex are both staying. Yay...?

Ricky has grown on me a lot since we traded for him. He will never be my favorite player, he's kind of an acquired taste, but I've learned to appreciate him for what he is. He does a ton of small things right. Pretty much every single small thing. Ideally you would have him do the big things right, but if you have a deeply flawed player I really think Ricky is the type of flawed player you want - gives it his all, smart and resourceful, gets to inordinate amount of 50-50 balls, etc...

Nah they don't suck, they're just not great and bad, respectively.

That's pretty much how I feel. Rubio isn't awful - sometimes he's good; but he's not getting this team to the next level without a lot more talent on the roster.

Exum may someday turn out to be a decent/reliable back-up PG - there are about 30 of those type guys in the G League and Europe right now.

Ya I was speaking more collectively.
As a position group I think they suck in comparison to the rest of the league.

None of them are near the top of the league in anything I'm guessing. Unless it's something bad.

I don't think Exum will be what anyone thinks he will. I see too much CJ Miles in him and his development so far. Flashes of good, lots of meh, solid amount of crap. I just don't see that changing much. Too much of a CJ Miles trajectory.

How long did we take to wise up on Miles? 6 years?

“Dude, you keep forgetting that if CJ had stayed in school, he’d only be in like his 3rd or 4th year of his PhD.”

CJ Miles and Dante Exum are about as diametrically opposed as it gets.

Miles issues were inconsistency, but his entire game was predicated around being a scorer. That's a thing that is very attached to ebbs and flows.

Exum's game is more connected to his feel. I think early in the year he was bad, but the entire team was bad. I've talked about how I felt the entire team's issues where spreading to each other, and it wasnt any one players' fault. Just a team wide slump.

Since then (basically around the Korver trade) Exum has been an impact player and consistent in his impact. Exum has the kind of game that he can make an impact consistently outside of scoring.

Just to refresh your memory, Exum played great the first months of the season and often pulled us back from the 10pt hole the starters put us in. He slowed down after that and picked it up again before he was hurt.
