What's new

Royce is our stretch 4.

So is Jae Crowder.

The league has been changing for a while.
yeah. Wish both of them can be a couple of inches taller though. their strength and toughness are definitely there, but height disadvantage will certainly hinder their effectiveness.

It's not ideal. But neither is a PF that isn't a threat from 3.

What would be ideal is if this team ever finds a legit modern NBA 4. This team is as good as it is playing wings and a center at the position, so there's a reason I'm obsessed.

Well, Quincy Acy is a former Baylor Bear who's 6'7 and plays some PF as well so it's not too much of a stretch.

He's basically the same height as Crowder and just an inch smaller than Thabo. He's also strong, a good rebounder and should be able to guard most 4's. I believe @Handlogten's Heros has been saying he should be playing the 4 for a while now.

I want to see him in the 35-40% from 3 range with way more volume before I totally buy it.

But there’s no reason he can’t be that guy in this league.

Draymond plays C and PF at 6'7" 230
Ariza is a stretch 4 at 6'8" 215
Crowder is 6'6" 235
Otto Porter is 6'8" 198
Kuzma is 6'9" 220
Joe Ingles is 6'8" 226

Royce is 6'6" 226. If we can train him, I think he can play a good bit of PF.

I think we can start a team that has a successful frontcourt of Ingles, O'Neale and Gobert.

I’d settle for Royce working on the following things over the summer.

1. Shoot the ****ing ball.
2. Don’t step out of bounds or travel on that first step. Or, more simply put, see #1.

Anything else is gravy, and I don’t think he’s stepped out of bounds or traveled for a few games. He’s at his best when everyone else is rolling.

Why does he need to do #1?

He's kind of at a perfect trigger rate for being a 5th option. He only takes good shots and he keeps the ball moving, or keeps the blender going if he doesnt.

I’m talking about him passing up an open shot to put the ball on the floor. Hasn’t been doing it as much recently, which has me satisfied. Passed up only one today.
