Ricky shoot around comments to media

I doubt the Jazz ever considered trading him.

Or maybe they have. But there's little question that his cheap contract makes him much more desirable to the Jazz. It wouldn't be the case if he was making 12m or whatever.

One more thing. Ricky has been in trade rumors for almost his whole career in the NBA and he doesn't like it. Maybe the Jazz would try to keep him, but I don't think that he is confortable knowing that he is an easily tradeable asset.
Unfortunately for him he'll always be in this situation because he's not quite good enough to be a core piece. It sucks but his game is kind of flawed/inconsistent.

For Rubio, he has two options:

#1 - get the most money possible. By doing so, understand that you could be traded.

#2 - take a very team friendly deal. By doing so, he is more unlikely to be dealt since he has more value to the team than in a deal.

He isn't a $15 million player. If he was making less than $10, nobody would want to trade him because his value. It's like Crowder. Nobody ever mentions trading him because his deal is golden despite his inconsistencies. Same with Ingles to a certain extent. We can live with his slightly more than $12 contract because he is a specialist. If Ingles was making Favors money, he would have more haters.

I doubt the jazz consider trading Royce while on this cheap contract. You should want to keep good players on cheap contracts not want to rid yourself of them. Right?

That's true but sometimes in order to get better talent to the team the organization you're trading with wants those good players on cheap contracts so you have to weigh the +/-'s.

What do Rusell Westbrook, Donovan Mitchell, Victor Oladipo, Jamal Murray, Bogdan Bogdanovic, DeMar DeRozan, John Wall, Gary Harris, Eric Gordon, Dennis Schröder and Terry Rozier have in common? They're all guards known as shooters and/or scorers whose TS% is less than 0.009 from Rubio's (some are marginally above him, some are marginally below him). Well, except for Westbrook and Rozier. Their TS% is even worse than that.

You should pay attention to the rest of the league and watch other teams every night if you think Rubio is so awful scoring the ball and so inconsistent. You're gonna be surprised by how common it is these days for guards to go 30% from the floor in one game and 55% on the next, over and over again.

I think if we had Beverley as Ricky’s backup, it would make it very workable. As-is, there really isn’t anyone coming I. For Ricky who can shoot and we end up doing PG by committee.

Really, at the beginning of entering this forum, I was worried about the things that I read without stopping to think that the majority should be children that no idea should have basketball.
I'm even reading that ricky must sign for less money to play in jazz ... and that after how management has treated it, hahaha let me laugh a little.
If you want, you can tell Ricky to sign for the money Dante charges or even less clear that if ... how much fool
Let's talk about Dante, yes, that guy with less IQ than a fly who does not even know how to bounce the ball and that after two half decent matches with tanking teams has become the new messiah for some of you.
We can also talk about another that says that Ricky can not play against high level pg .. "ask DR, SC, KW although they can ask RW and how Ricky has taken him out of the game more than once.
And finally we'll talk about another who says that Ricky will not have a market in summer.
So it comes to my head,: Chicago, Detroit, Phoenix, Minnesota and be careful not to get through San Antonio that Ricky would go there as a glove with Popovich.
But obviously, if they want a pg of 20 pts per game, that is not Ricky ... nor any of those that they have had in many years.
But you can ask Santa Claus for one. And remember, sometimes what comes next is much worse.
Greetings to all, I will continue reading them from time to time but I do not intend to spend more time writing in this forum.
Goodbye
Please, continue writing. I feel exactly the same

These guys are mostly all criticized for their inefficiency, though. Donovan not being more efficient is the main reason he hasn't taken the leap into top 20 player so far, and a big reason the Jazz aren't a real contender. People were saying that he's the next Tyreke Evans before his play picked up in January (and his TS% over that stretch) Rozier is getting absolutely killed right now in Boston and has tanked his value, Westbrook is getting triple doubles and on a winning team but his shooting has dropped him out of being a top 10-15 player for most analysts and he's the second fiddle to Paul George now who is much more efficient. A lot of the other guys you are bringing up are either often criticized for their bad shooting (Wall, Schroder) or are having down years (Harris, Gordon, Murray). The thing with Ricky is he's been consistently at this level of inefficiency for his whole career. A lot of these guys have played at a higher level.

If we do end up re-signing Ricky I don't think we will try to get him to take a discount, I think we will sign him to a deal very similar to Favors. Likely a two year deal at about $15-16 million a year with a team option for the second season. That way we would essentially have two large expiring contracts that could be used at the trade deadline to try and acquire a guy making around $30 million, just like how we tried to get Conley this year using expiring contracts.

If Ricky Rubio didn't suck *** half of the season, then the Jazz would be fighting the Nuggets and Thunder for the 2nd/3rd seed. I don't understand how you could disagree with that statement , but if you do, passive-aggressive name calling isn't going to convince me I'm wrong.

He’s a critical piece of our team, and in many of the games I've watched, he not only looked horrible individually, but his terrible play was clearly affecting the rest of the team. Mitchell absolutely should shoulder some blame for this as well, but this thread was about Rubio.

Whereever he goes he'll be tradeable, only guys who arent are guys you build around and that aint Rick. We'll see if he rates locker room chemistry as much as he thinks the FO should.

No one sags off the guys you mentioned like they do Rubio. Rubio probably turns the ball over the most also.

And Rudy would be an Allstar.

Sure, they're sometimes critiziced, they're all as inefficient right now and some of them have been for all or most of their careers, yet none of them gets the heat that Ricky does, not even close. To the point that despite their struggles, they're still thought of as scorers, all of them, while that's the last thing anyone will say about Rubio. It's a double standard and it's completely narrative-driven, just like the references to Rubio's lack of improvement scoring the ball.

People keep thinking of him like he's the same guy that came into the league and averaged a god-awful .481 TS% his first 4 years in the NBA and got to a point where he was afraid to shoot. However, in the 4 years since there's been evident development in his game in terms of scoring, he's improved his average TS% by 5 full points up to .532, he's turned into a pretty decent mid-range shooter and overall he's become much more agressive and confident in his shot (sometimes too confident, but that's what Quin asks of him, so...). He really changed after his second big injury, when he spent almost a full season on the sidelines due to a nasty high ankle sprain, and yet you keep reading the same out of date arguments over and over like nothing's changed. He still needs to be more consistent from outside, and he needs to find some balance and learn when not to shoot; but the drama, the outrage and the constant hating are simply ridiculous.

Ricky should get market value. Why agree to a discount, he knows the NBA is a business, the Jazz proved that at the deadline. If he’s concerned about a future trade, he can always negotiate a trade bonus into the contract.
