What's new

Royce is our stretch 4.

I’m talking about him passing up an open shot to put the ball on the floor. Hasn’t been doing it as much recently, which has me satisfied. Passed up only one today.
He's good at attacking and creating shots for others out of the offense.

I've been supporting the idea of utilizing him at the 4 in certain situations (to counteract small ball lineups that hurt us specifically) for a while now. He's a good rebounder for his size, scrappy, a good enough shooter (for a 4), and a better defender than Crowder.

Royce pretty much is that 3/4 tweener who's good either way. Definitely a guy you want on your team for depth, occasional starts, and general glue. I pretty much imagine the 3 will be his when Ingles hangs 'em up if he still wants to be here. AFAIK, Quin is still high on his snap decisions as well.

Royce is 6'6" 226. If we can train him, I think he can play a good bit of PF.
Wingspan is the problem for both Jae and Royce at PF. However, Jae has some muscle mass and bulk that helps offset some of the limitations at that position.

The biggest worry about being a non traditional 4 is defensive rebounding and Royce is better than Jae at that.

So what if some people post Royce up some times? Post ups blow, even against mismatches and especially when you have Rudy Gobert on help defense.

Extremely SSS (20 minutes), so it means nothing, but the starting lineup minus Favors + Royce ONeale is +62.1 points per 100 possessions.

Also, Royce/Jingles is our best rated two man combo (with at least over 400 minutes played) with +12.4 points per 100 possessions.

Royce was a big part of what happened last year. Glad he's playing more and doing well.

Same here. I was worried he regressed to someone who may not be an NBA player in a few years. He's really worked hard to be a 10 year vet sort of guy. Good for him.

The fact Mirotic can't play any other position than PF is a strike against him in today's NBA. On the other hand, Quin wants to shoot a ton of 3s which leads me to think Mirotic is a better fit. He gets his shot off much easier at a legit 6'10"and averages OVER DOUBLE the attempts Royce. He also has legit 3 point range from anywhere, not just the corner. In fact he shoots very few from the corner, which saves that for our more shaky 3 point shooters.

Yes, but we’ve balked at him twice now. This summer, we’ll balk at him for the third and final time and I guess we can stop talking about Niko.

And you don’t think this summer we’ll balk at the asking price*?

*Losing Favors, paying Niko $16M/yr.
obviously the number is hugely important.

So is WHEN Niko expects his free agency to be resolved. Will he wait for teams to strikeout on their first priorities? Because I hope he isn't number one on our list.

Mirotic also got his *** kicked in the Warriors series.
