It’s stuff made up by foxnews and other extreme outlets trying to shape and characterize the liberal socialist agenda that all real Americans should be terrified of.

It’s kinda funny. And sad.

MMT is not made up by Fox News, although their reaction may be hysterical, can’t say for sure as I never watch cable news. MMT is Modern Monetary Theory, a position currently being promoted by some leftist economists like Stephanie Kelton and James K. Galbraith (son of mid-20th century’s most influential economist, John Kenneth Galbraith). MMT very basically states that worries over the deficit are over-wrought (US can always print more money and will never go bankrupt) and that inflation should be controlled by fiscal policy rather than monetary policy. Not sure but I think Bernie and AOC are attracted to and influenced by MMT.

why do ppl feel they have to identify as fully one or the other. Is there no room to view certain things with a more traditional view and yet other issues in a progressive manner ?
Rep ocasio-cortez said that moderates are just lazy people who refuse to commit. It's evidence this divide is being staunchly pushed at the highest levels of government. It's only going to get worse.

In her remarks, Ocasio-Cortez torched political moderation, which she equated with worshiping mediocrity,

That's a very good explanation. Thanks

Jonah, your thoughtful, logical, and well researched answers have no place here. ;-).

Was referring to foxnews' obsession with AOC. Sorry, quoted the wrong post.

I'm starting to think that Donald Trump is going to get re-elected in 2020, and quite possibly by a larger margin of victory than he had in 2016. The biggest reason would be that the Democrats seem to lack a clear identity and platform, other than to oppose virtually everything that Trump does. If Trump survives the Mueller Investigation and if Dems can't put together a convincing case for impeachment, it may look like Trump dodged their best bullets and came through relatively unscathed. At the same time, none of the Democratic candidates for President look particularly compelling.

This exact criticism was leveled at Hillary Clinton and is just as untrue now as it was then.
