Dennis Lindsey on the Woj pod

It is pre-fan incident... I am half listening, but kinda boring so far.

Just for fun I was looking at Dennis Lindsey's moves as GM of the jazz. 3 very good things. Rudy, Donnovan, and Snyder. 2 good things. Jingles and Royce. A few meh. Rubio, George Hill and a bunch of bad things.
Makes you wonder if he really knows how to build a contender.

It’s not just a case of can he build a contender. Where is he trying to build a contender? Answer is, in a small market team. So considering that, he has done okay.

If he was at Lakers, then there would be different expactations. I feel like Magic Johnson has failed much more than DL has, to build a contender, even though he has nabbed Lebron.

There were five interesting minutes surrounded by mind bending boredom:

Rubio was definitely on the table to be traded, and he hated the fact that it leaked. Hadn't had a leak since a few years ago by another team.

Most rumors are BS, at least for the Jazz.

He loves team chemistry and hates the 'looks' players give him during the trade deadline. He feels like the grim reaper.

'That being said, if you can get a star player you have to do it' - We'll see.

Wasn't particularly impressed, lots of family, love etc. talk. Not much about winning.

I thought the whole interview revealed a lot about the thought process DL uses in running the team. Talent assessment, player interactions, trade rumors, ethics, etc. Very interesting all around.

I totally agree. But the Rudy and Donovan moves were “out there” moves. Special moves. They will make the franchise relevant again for years to come. He deserves more time to complete his master plan (assuming that he has one).

I think next season is the key. The most important one in a very long time for this team.
