Two reasons:
• He's a wing, not a forward. He's probably going to average 5 or 6 rebounds. Think Tracy McGrady.
• He needs to add strength and develop physically. He was behind the curve this season due to his meniscus injury a year ago. If he adds strength and aggressiveness defensively he could become similar to Jerami Grant, but that would be some evolution, and I don't think he'll block shots like Grant.
What you have with King is a 6'9" wing with a 7-ft. wingspan, good lateral quickness to make defensive rotations and above-average shooting touch. He can also take 2 or 3 dribbles and score in different situations

Hmmmm...maybe he could be our 3 longterm. To me, the elephant in the room is Ingles’ age. At some point sooner rather than later, we’ll need to find his replacement.

You guys are looking at the wrong side of the equation! Lemme state this; The divergence stems from before you're looking for it! Look at the ages players enter college at.. you will see the uniform age#'s you are looking for are already shattered. The variance is wider than ever....
There is no suitable imaginary starting point to the race you are trying to call the end of, so why would their be a suitable endpoint thats shelf-life based?... Its all just everyone running all different laps at all different times, clearly..
Cuz on both sides of the equations you have smart determined talented kids, undersized PG's like MArquette's Markus Howard who are rushing thru HS in 3 years to showcase as early as possible to prove themselves at 17 years old, and then you have the super old freshman the 21 year old freshman - seeee....... UNLV's whole team,, yeah thats a pretty good example i'd say... LOL... and i mean once u start to sift thru these stories individually, year-after-year, the only conclusion to be drawn is "it depends" or i usually like to say "on a case-by-case basis".... because again Buddy hield duped the system. That certainly just took place, under everyones noses... Thon may have duped the system. So even the ages we're working with, theirs some risk they arent true ages!!
While we're on the subject, i would say that someone in Oklahoma fudged Buddy's DOB on purpose.... and just sorta maintained the lie...
It goes back to the old question --- wat da **** do ya do with a guy from sudan with no paperwork??? do you just give him an astersik? maybe do a ~ symbol or a +/- give or take a few LOL, do we have like a tribunal of the best carvinal guess youre age type ofpeople who can give us a good guess, that sounds like something I could see NCAA prez Mark Emmert greenlighting.... as much as this is something that im sure is a political issue, it's funny in this aspect of age we're discussing..
and then there's also the dark cloud of injuries looming over this whole "just file everything by age" type of thing. because nothing so obviously stops progress quite like an injury, all of a sudden you're caught in stasis in a way, but most certainly the days are passing...... It's gotta be case-by-case..

I think King could go to a team and be a 2nd or 3rd scorer type, like a Rashard Lewis. He's going to need a year or two to develop. He's draftable in the 20s.
I think he could be pretty comparable to Kevin Knox from last year. He's just a bit behind in the development curve.

Only on the surface it's basic and yes the pros obviously have more resources, time being one of them. What they don't have is a rather sheltered learning environment from which student athletes can benefit and identifying how it affects which player and which player is a lock to make another jump in the NBA because he got prepared through college is something that at least MOST front offices haven't made advances in a meaningful way.
You suck in the NCAA: Media: He's young an inexperienced and may not be ready for the pros.
You suck in the NBA: [Sources] x is close to be traded.
There's a lot of maturity and professionalism required to navigate many facets of pro basketball. So if you're too distracted/not mature enough to take advantage of the opportunities that 24/7 basketball and coaching offers, then the better circumstances may be left untapped. So that would suggest it's not a "every player in the history of the game has benefited the most from making an early jump to the NBA"

Darius Bazley is 18 years old and a VERY safe bet in the 2nd rd. quote me on it. Who knows if he's grown some too, it seems possible. He can shoot it tho.

EJ Montgomery is testing the waters!
I'm very interested to see how Talen Horton-Tucker measures out. Talent-wise, I think he's better than both the Tennessee guys. He'd probably need to play at the 3 with some switchability on defense.

The modern game asks players to do everything. They have to hit 3s, they have to attack closeouts, they have to create off the dribble, they have to finish at the rim, they have to guard 3 positions. THT can likely do those things, but he's not a guard. He needs to be 6'5" at least and play at the wing. The super throwback comp for him would be a player like Mark Aguirre, imo.
