They admitted what we already knew before the election in 2016? Where have you been? Of course, the part about "against the Trump campaign" is false, unless you are saying the Trump campaign was aligned with the Russians who were the targets of the probe. Is that what you meant to say?

Is that the same John Solomon who claimed that the DNC organized Seth Rich’s murder? Is that the same John Solomon who claimed that Uranium One was organized by Clinton to help Russia? I for one would like to know more about Manafort’s sleazy dealings in Ukraine. Just how compromised is that guy? Why did he promise to work for free for the trump campaign? Seems like congress is one of many avenues to discuss these vital national security issues.

Somehow equating this to Trump toadies dangling sanction relief (repeal of the Magnitsky Act) in exchange for stolen DNC emails to some DNC staffer asking for the Ukrainian embassy to clarify Manafort’s dealings with sleazy Ukrainian politicians is ridiculous.

* Right now it’s important to remind everyone that Manafort worked a sleazy campaign to elect a Putin backed Russian Presidential candidate. When this candidate ran away to Russia, Russia invaded Ukraine. Later, allegedly greatly in debt to Russian oligarchs, Manafort came back to the USA and offered to work for the Trump campaign for free. Shortly after joining the trump campaign, he helped change the GOP’s platform on sanctions against Russia and overturned support for Ukraine at the GOP convention.

Why?

It couldn’t be because trump was still trying to get a trump tower Moscow, could it? It couldn’t be that his campaign chair was neck deep in debt to Russian oligarchs and was trying to gain their support by softening our stance against them, could it? It couldn’t be that the trump campaign had been trying to work with Russians to release stolen data, could it?

You're falling for their deep state narrative bs. You're letting them pull the wool right over your eyes. Confirmation bias will suck ya right in. The AG, an office that should be completely independent of the White House, is right in Trump's pocket now. In Barr's case, he's well known for believing the power of the executive branch should be expanded. I suspect he thinks he's protecting the office, more then Trump the man, but if that requires acting as if he were the Attorney General of Donald Trump, and no longer the Attorney General of the United States, he won't hesitate. And he hadn't hestitated. He's already lied to Congress, which, as Pelosi pointed out Thursday, is a crime. Perjury.

I'm certain the IG will be no less in Trump's pocket. His report will support this deep state narrative. Trump has taken the stance that the Constitutional given right of the Legislative branch to exercise oversight over the Executive branch will no longer apply in his case. These people, beginning with Trump, are debasing our democracy, and damaging our institutions like no other administration in our history. It's a tightly woven tale his base will embrace, and thus remained divorced from reality. And allow Trump to stand outside and above the law. Some day you may wake up and say how the hell did I let myself be buffaloed by all this. Right now, you're falling for it wholesale. It's a shame.

It's possible had the Mueller probe never happened, this effort to put himself above the law might never have happened. But the more threatened Trump felt, the more it was bound to happen. There's a reason this man admires strong man dictators, and a reason he has zero respect for our Constitution. He's counting on guys like you to fall for all this and allow him to debase our democracy beyond recognition. And I expect him to do whatever it takes to make sure he does not lose in 2020. We ain't seen nothin yet. If a healthy functioning government depends on an electorate educated in how to recognize all this, then we are in trouble.
 
I have no idea how it came to be, but from the day he descended the escalator in Trump Tower to announce his candidacy, I have seen this day coming. All I want to see is the blinders fall from the eyes of those who have been lulled into a state that does not allow them to see clearly. I thank God I am not in that position, but it brings little solace. The mental and emotional anguish of seeing so many fellow Americans with blinders on, and unable to learn the lessons of history, the certain knowledge that it can truly be this easy for a cynical demagogue to pull all this off, beats a man down. It really, really beats a man down.

Good post I’d like to add something. Look at the religious aspect.

Trump isn’t just a cynical demagogue, but a disgusting, loud, obnoxious, and (stupid) one. For as much as American “Christians” like to wear their religion on their sleeves, (Mormons included), they fell head over heels for someone who’s The antithesis of their religion. You'd think religion would act as a guardrail against this type of leader, instead, it acts as his own springboard. Trump is so weak, crude, immoral, and disgusting that he makes Herod or King Noah (Mormons will get this reference) blush.

Yet, white evangelicals are the ones empowering this disgusting man.

Why is Bob Mueller talking with house democrats right now? Although arguably not outright lying, the Attorney General misrepresented the reports findings Bob Mueller produced, and continues to do so.

Saying tax cuts stimulated the economy is very similar. By traditional measures, "the economy" is doing well. Also traditionally, the middle class continues to lose ground, wealth inequality grows, we bring in less in taxes while spending more, we borrow trillions from China, and we're one of the only first world nations that can't find the time to work in national health care.

So by all means, continue to fap to the 'healthy' 'economy' that donnie 'stimulated'. I really don't mind playing the cautious conservative for you.

There's an aspect of militant American Christianity, that reminds me of just being a counterpoint to militant Islamists. (Reflected in part by Bannon's belief we should be engaged in a fight for the survival of Western civilization itself). At least we are not yet engaged in some specie of actual Christian "jihad". In Trump's case, you've got a brand of aggrieved isolationism, "the world has been taking advantage of us", reflected in both withdrawal from or denigration of old alliances, and at the same time an open belligerence toward traditional friends and allies.

This style of flag hugging nationalism is dangerous. A promise by Trump not to continue in a cycle of endless wars, yet, if elected to a second term, I would fully expect a war against Iran. I believe both Bolton and Pompeo feel this is inevitable, and will continue to act to undermine Iranian leaders. Having the far right in control in Israel at this time does not help, IMHO. But, in general, nowhere in the world has Christianity developed a militant component more pronounced, and IMO, dangerous, then in the form we might call Americanism. It's nuts, a derangement of sorts, plain and simple.
