Did We Give Up on Kanter and Hood Too Soon

I know Kanter is like the WWE bad guy in the valley, but he is playing like a boss for Portland with a separated shoulder. Hood hit the game winner last night and Spidey's and Rudy's tweets expressed love and happiness for the guy. Basically Portland got both guys out of dumpsters this year. I know salary cap and all but man we could have used both these guys vs Houston.
 
Problem is they are both very one dimensional. In a right system and for limited minutes they can be useful for sure. I think I miss Hood more than Kanter TBH.
 
I wish we could've kept Hood at a decent contract, but I don't think that was available, so you would have to factor in a pretty big deal for him. There was no way we could've kept Kanter anyway, so I think that's a pretty moot point.
 
The key with Hood is he can't be the main scorer and he can't play a ton of minutes. If you rely on him he'll get gastric distress or go 1-10. If you play him a lot of minutes he'll get injured. If you have other primary shooters like Portland and you use Hood off the bench he can be very useful.

They didn't give up on Kanter soon enough---Twice.

First when they thought about drafting him, and second when it was clear he wasn't staying, that break-up could be seen a mile away and the longer he stayed the less he was worth on the trade market.
 
Hood at 7 million per is great. Hood at 70 million over 4 years kills you. Jazz and Rodney didn't agree on compensation, it was a crappy situation, but both sides had to move on.
 
First. Kanter gave up on the jazz when he publicly demanded a trade, also didn’t fit the identity of this team, no defense and only cared about his numbers as Trevor Booker so famously stated.

Hood regressed first lost his job to Ingles, then Mitchell the following year. He wasn’t happy and not sure you can say he was better for this team than Crowder was. Hood was injured far too often and had way to many crippling shooting off nights and didn’t play defense. We are better off with both gone.

If we kept Kanter, we wouldn’t have Favors, Favors is better
 
Both were acquired by Portland for essentially nothing. Kanter was walking the streets and Hood was traded for two players that were waived. Sometimes some care and feeding by management could allow acquisitions like this.
 
I’m gonna say this and I hope I’m wrong or proven wrong. I love Quin. He’s a top 10 coach in my eyes and maybe top 5. But I think he’s really ****ing intense. Too consistently. He does seem to have a sense of humor but even then there’s an intensity to him.

It concerns me because I feel as a coach there are times you need to use a very human element and calm the players, or at other times, pull them aside and give them a vote of confidence. I definitely think he attempts to do things like this if you watch him over the course of a game but there’s so much intensity all the time. I never see him taking a step back and taking a different approach and humanizing himself more in order to reach those players.

It was a concern to me when he was hired (he was known for this intensity wearing on players and teams) and it’s a slight concern to me now.

Having read an interesting article about the Blazers coaching staff and how they’ve worked hard with Lillard on emotional intelligence over the last year or so, I feel it’s something Quin himself and the players could use. To me they’re interrelated.

I give Portland and Kanter credit. He looks far thinner to me which is what he needed imo as do most nba players. It’s what Jae could def use.
 
The Jazz business model would not allow acquisitions like this. They have guaranteed contracts and let's finish the year with them and hope for paydays in the form of playoff games. This year we only got two games so the model failed and the cash vanished.
 
I think Hood could be back in a Jazz Jersey next year. His value has dropped from when he was in Utah and his ego has also been put in check without his confidence being diminished, but his shot is still there. I think his shooting and being able to back up the 2 or 3 would be invaluable.

Kanter is a total dunce, he is acting like hes playing with a sepperated shoulder to add drama to his life like everything else he does. Guys a clown. Does anybody actually buy his ******** of playing with a sepperated shoulder? Lmao!
 
Ps im sure PG13s shoulder was in the same state as his last game, but ofc kanter a total **** head has to act like his is absolutely ****ed by posting photos of hom constantly reminding us how his shoulder is hurt.

This is the same clown who went to an okc jazz game out of spite lmao!

You didnt see the post where snyder was voted as a top 5 coach players want to play for in the league? Did you miss that part?

Or do you just make your own assumptions?
