Bring Back Paul Milsap ?

I’d do it if we got Conley and couldn’t (wouldn’t) land Niko.

isn't he getting paid 30 million ? no thanks

and what assets would get Denver to trade him ? We don't have anywhere near enough

Team option. As per your first reaction, Denver will let him hit the market.

So we're looking for "pretty good" three point shooters now, eh?
I don't think that's my point. But I looked up his stats and he's been averaging about 34 percent from 3 since leaving the Jazz and he was .365 this past year. That's compared to Favors who's a career 21 percent from 3. Not only that, he has been an All-Star 4 times. We should never have let him go. But we did it to keep Favors. What happened is that Favors has never reached his potential, in part because of injuries, and Millsap far exceeded his. He's past his prime now and Favors is in his prime, so probably not a good idea to sign him going forward.

God no. He’ll be 35 at the all-star break next season.

Unless he’d do a 2+1 at like 6-9M per. Then sure.

Part of the reason for signing Little Sap at the time was as an enticement to recruit Paul. The other DLeaguers were signed at the same time.

Yes, I realize that. Elijah played his tail off for us. Just didn't have a high level of talent

I gotcha.

I just don't subscribe to the "we should have never done that..." mind set about a move so far in the past. I mean how long ago was that? 7-8 years? At the time EVERYONE wanted length. We had to be longer to compete with Gasol and the like.

You can't live in the past. To say we shouldn't made one move so long ago is way too simplistic. You're basically cherry picking things here and there without seeing the whole scope of ramifications that might have happened.

Just be happy the dude is playing well. He's one of my favorites as well!

I would like to see documentation of this.

Or is it more likely that you're speaking out of your butt cheeks?

What an organization the Jazz is. They get players like Elijah to test NBA waters and kind of contribute. Paul's bro is playing in Uruguay right now. Go figure.

Always liked Paul. Should have never let him walk away for nothing. Those dark times were the seed of Jazz current problems. I'd like him in Utah again for a fair price.

The only way I'd consider it is if we added a third star to the guard/wing rotation, Denver declined Millsaps team option, and then Millsap was willing to sign for cheap (around 5 mill a year. 2/10, 2/12, something like that) to take some of the minutes Favs would be leaving at the 4.

My source is Locke who posted at the time of the signings as Paul was playing for the Hawks at the time and was going to become a free agent. All those DLeague guys Little Sap, Bryce and Cooley were tough scrappy dudes.

Yeah, people forget that. It was a different NBA back then. We were looking for athleticism and length after getting our *** whopped by Gasol-Bynum-Odom and then the Spurs. I don't think anyone realistically expected Millsap to become such a well-rounded player under Budd, while Favors not reaching his full potential (he looked like he was 3 years ago)

Only thing I regret is not doing a better job in managing our assets (cap space for crappy late 1st rounders, helping GSW acquire Iggy), knowing that some players were not coming back. But that's the blessing of hindsight.
