I don't care.

There needs to be a thread. The movie is coming out soon.

This was the best TV series ever made.

I wish I could post scenes, but there's this issue with the f-word.

I will say, no better show has ever been produced in the history of mankind.

So eat that dick.

Loved breaking bad but I'm rewatching Deadwood (posted this thread after watching the first two episodes of season 3 last night) first time around and this time I'm just giddy as I watch and constantly burst out laughing at the cleverness of the dialogue and interactions. Despite the vulgarity there is tons of subtlety and intelligence in the dialogue. That and I feel it is the best cast show ever made. Each character is absolutely perfect. I'm loving it just as much the second time around.

I'm sure I'll rewatch breaking bad again. Definitely another entry into the television HOF. But I think Deadwood kicked off the golden age of Cable (and streaming) TV series

I haven't watched Deadwood yet but it's on my list. If you like dialogue like that, minus the f bombs, you should check out justified. Loved that show.

I'm not sure if you know but Timothy Olyphant is the lead character of both shows. I actually watched the first season of justified and didn't get into it, but I've heard a lot of good things about it and might give it another shot.

Makes me want to watch Deadwood more. Justified takes off for real in season 2 tbh. 1st was mostly introducing characters and relationships and setting up the plot lines. Later seasons are absolute gold and one of the best ending I've seen in a series. I hope you give it another shot, think you'd like it.

Justified is definitely one of the best shows of all time

This
Season 1 might be the worst season (and there were quite a few seasons)

I’ve started deadwood. 2 seasons in.

So far the two characters that annoy me are Hikock and Calamity.

So eat that dick.

That's mildly homophobic of you *wink wink nudge nudge.* That said it's kind of funny since the show is called, "Deadwood."

My girlfriend's dad has some hilarious stories of Dayton Callie when they were younger. They got into a fight about 10 years ago and don't talk anymore. I'm trying to be like the Kevan McCallister to the Old Man Marley with him and get them talking again. I'd love to meet the guy and invite him to my wedding.

So there will be opportunities to criticize this shows "finale" on May 31st. More than 10 years after the final episode of the show aired. I know there is mixed reaction to the final season of Game of Thrones, but the show ran for eight seasons and had a finale. Deadwood ran for three seasons and got nothing. Deadwood was the show that introduced the golden age of television to the world. Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, The Americans, Rome. Amongst others these shows owe something to Deadwood.

For honesty's sake, The Wire was also made around the same time as Deadwood. Predated the shows I listed, and should also be considered as a foundational series that ushered in the golden age of television.

I started watching deadwood the other day at work and also started watching justified again that same night at home with my wife. Watched 1 episode of each. So far justified is kicking deadwoods ***

Deadwood was awesome and I wished it had lasted longer.

It might just be the type of show or something but I'm finding Deadwood boring. I'm about 6 or 7 episodes in and find it very difficult to keep my attention on the show. It seems to take a full hour to tell maybe 40 minutes of story. I get that part of the experience is supposed to be the milieu, but that isn't enough to overcome the lack of plot or action. The dialogue is pretty good, that's for sure, but I'd expected the plot to be further along by this point and it just seems to be rambling.

They are hitting the key historical points fairly well, such as Hickok's death, but it also seems to be doing it at real life pace, which is actually pretty slow.

I've committed to watching the first season at least so we'll see how it goes from here. Might just not be my kind of show.

I actually like deadwood but comparing it to justified, which is one of the best shows of all time, probably isn't fair.

I forgot how great justified is. For those who haven't seen it, it's a comedy but not really, it's a western but not really, it's a CSI type show but not really, it's a Colombo who done it type show but not really, it's got romance and drama..... Has a little bit of everything.
What makes it amazing is that it does each of those things perfectly.

I was talking about justified to a co worker long ago and he was like if you like justified then you should try Burn Notice. So I watched burn notice and it was good. But no where near as good as justified.

So that said I need to add this. I found Hickock one of the more engaging characters, so even though I felt it was pretty slow to this point, it feels like his death was a little rushed. Probably not a small amount a factor of the fact that Carradine is a really good actor with great presence. He was a good character and I know from reading some history that he spent a few months in Deadwood whereas the show made it seem like a couple of weeks maybe, before he was killed. Meh not that far off I guess, but it still seemed they killed him off pretty quickly.
