What's new

Non jazz 2019 playoff discussion.

I think dame is just sucking ***, i think fatigue is kicking in.

They had a brutal 7 game series vs the nuggets.

Pisses me off how easy of a road Portland has had. Just saying I think Utah could have beaten OKC & probably the same result against Denver.

Lillard has been getting exposed.
Same thing happening to Lillard that often happened to Donovan. Warriors are doubling him and focusing a lot of attention on him. That's why CJ has been doing better in this series. Plus now we learn Lillard is injured.

That’s why you don’t drop easy games against teams like the Lebronless Lakers or the Hawks or the Grizzlies.

“Just one game” can really impact the postseason and ultimately determine whether your season was a success or not.
You mean like every team in the NBA did?
Warriors lost to the suns in Golden State (they also lost to the magic and the lebronless Lakers and the grizzlies)

The jazz had about a 50 win roster and they won about 50 games.
Unfortunately in the last two games of the season things happened that had about a 0.0001% chance of happening that put the rockets in the 4 seed and the jazz in the 5 seed.

Warriors clearly have leeway to drop games in the regular season since they’re such a great team. They beat Houston in Houston without their best iso player.

We don’t have the same leeway. We needed home court and we needed to avoid certain teams.

Plus, golden state has won it many times. Of course they’re going to save their older and more fatigued players. We were supposed to be younger and start fresh out of the gates. Remember? We brought back the same team as last year. We started slowly, caught fire post Christmas, and then began to fade towards the end dropping key games in March.

But it's unrealistic to simply say the jazz need to not lose to bad teams since every team in the league every season loses to teams that they shouldn't and beats teams they shouldn't.
You are asking the jazz to do something that has never been done before. I think that is unrealistic.

Then we shouldn’t complain when we face matchups in the playoffs organized by our record.

I disagree. We could have won a few more games and still get matched up with Houston cause we have no control on what other teams do when we are not involved like we saw the last 2 nights of the season.

I will complain that we basically had the impossible happen to us the last 2 nights of the season and I think that's ok. I don't think you have to complain about it though.

Oy. The crying about seeding. If we can’t win more than one game in a first round matchup, too bad. We’re not that special. And the even worse crying about the Blazers “easy” road. It’s very presumptuous to assume we’d advance vs the teams they faced. It’s also poor form to rip into Lillard who’s better than anyone on our roster and who’s playing injured.

I don’t get this outlook at all. In sports, a team or athlete can only control their selves. That’s it. With so much on the line, we shouldn’t be losing to the Pels at home or the Lakers, sans Lebron.

Again, every team loses those games. It's ok if you want the jazz to beat every bad team every time they play them just understand that even the best teams in the history of the NBA lost to bad teams so what you want is literally impossible and will never happen.

Literally impossible?

I’m not talking about the entirety of a season. I’m talking about with a lot on the line with about 20 games left.
