Depends on what options you have and what you give up... if it is primarily salary relief and we haven’t gotten Harris, Kemba, Conley, Russell, Brogdon... then what... I just meant he’s a down the line option... I’d rather Lowry than Dragic.
I’d rather Lowry than Dragic, but let’s face it, we’re not winning it all next year when he’s 34. So we’d be looking at a 35 yo pg after that. For what? Why do it?
So far as options go, Collison, Joseph, Beverley, Caruso, Payton, Satoransky or Wright at the right price at pg. Ditto at pf. Realistically, Payton isn’t too dissimilar from Rubio. Shaky shooter who hovers around 50% TS%, good distributor, solid defender. He’d likely be cheaper than Rubio was too, and he did shoot 37% from three in 44 games a couple years ago which makes me wonder what he could become with our supposed world class coaching staff. Him, Joseph (doubt Pacers wanna spend too much on a backup) or Satoransky (Wiz have a ton of decisions and can’t re-sign them all), not necessarily in that order, make a lot of sense and could be quite realistic and at a reasonable price of under 10M. Add in Caruso too (2/10?) and we’ve really solidified the pg spot imo and upgraded overall.
One of those wouldn't be sexy and I’m sure the lynch mob would be out for Lindsey but that, and an improved and hungrier Gobert and Mitchell (I think both take noticeable leaps) could be enough for 53-56 wins imo.
If we flipped Favors (or opted out of him) for a better Crowder, I think we could be looking at 55-58 wins.
