What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

I don't trust Lowry at all in the playoffs and he's only getting older at this stage, think it would be a bad move to trade assets for him.
If you guys did not like Rubio defense you will kill your self after couple games watching Lowry abused by Augustins of NBA...Not even talking real star PG's

It’s gonna be hilarious when Jazz fans realize no young African American with options is going to move to Utah.

If we can trade for Lowry or Conley, you do it IMO.

Find a team that is willing to take on Korver for either a second round pick or $5 million dollars for their troubles (not sure how much cash we have left to trade this season). Make a trade with said team and New Orleans where we send out Korver, Exum and Crowder for Holiday. We also include this years pick and first roound picks in 2022 and 2024, both top 4 protected.

On July 1st, renouce the cap holds of Rubio, Thabo and Udoh. Offer Derrick Favors a 3 year deal starting at 12,5 million with max raises and a player option on the third year. If he accepts, offer Al Horford a 3 year $60 million contract, which we are able to afford after making these moves.

Holiday/Mitchell/Neto
Mitchell/Allen
Ingles/O`Neale
Horford/Favors/Niang
Gobert/Favors/Bradley

Instant contender.

Not saying the Jazz should do this, but

I think some people here are interested in TJ Warren. He's missed a ton of games due to injury, though (I think around 1/3 of his games). Gambadoro also said Josh Jackson's value is around a high second/low first. He just got arrested this weekend for trying to sneak into the VIP area of a music festival and then trying to run from the cops after he got cuffed. Maybe Igor could give Utah some intel on Warren or one of their other wings who become available.

I’ve always thought JJ looked good every time I’ve seen him play.

I’ve only watched the Suns when they play us.

Trade our second rounder for him. Beats the hell out of “Cash Considerations.” If that’s not enough, throw in Tomic.

I've seen a couple of articles lately saying that the Jazz and the Heat are expected to try and trade for Conley this summer. If that's the case I think Miami will end up with him because they have better assets to offer than we do. I wouldn't be shocked to see a 3 team deal where the Heat get Conley and we get Dragic.

If we get Tobias I’m cool with trading for Dragic

He’s owed like $18M so it’s within the realm of possibility (salary wise) to obtain him, assuming they would take Exum. What would they want from us?

This.
Though Dragic as a 3 point shooter is unpredictable as **** and he would need to be very good from there for it to be worth it imo. He had a stretch of 22 games when he first got traded to Houston where he shot 52% from 3. He has had a couple of season over 40% from three (harden and Lillard have never shot over 40% from 3 in a season for perspective)

But then he had years of 32, 34, 31, and other sub 35% season from 3 as well. That's Rubio esque. He is 32 years old currently. Makes 19 million next season.

On second thought I don't want Dragic. I would rather just play DM at point.

4th or 5th? Dude’s not even on my list. He’ll be 34 before the playoffs even start next season and typically blows in the playoffs anyway.

It’s wildly short-sighted and desperation move.

Depends on what options you have and what you give up... if it is primarily salary relief and we haven’t gotten Harris, Kemba, Conley, Russell, Brogdon... then what... I just meant he’s a down the line option... I’d rather Lowry than Dragic.

He has had good games against us but is mostly ***. Wouldn’t be a bad buy low but he doesn’t have the Jazz DNA we talk about so much... maybe in an organization with some common sense he could mature into something but he has Wiggins terrible shooting and Devin Booker levels of confidence.

Rubio's defense was underrated! Had a ton of steals and kept his man in front of him to the best of his ability! Also, would push his man toward Rudy or Favors if he got in trouble and needed help. Trying to replace him with another clown would just make us a weaker team and a boat without a ruder!

I read a KSL article a couple days ago stating Exum wants to be ready by the new season. Is that a good enough pitch to other teams for a trade?

Wrong. Lowry is on the decline, and is not a good player in postseason. In my opinion getting a pg unless it’s Kemba is a waste of time and does nothing for the jazz

I have NO INTEREST IN HIM!!

I’d rather Lowry than Dragic, but let’s face it, we’re not winning it all next year when he’s 34. So we’d be looking at a 35 yo pg after that. For what? Why do it?

So far as options go, Collison, Joseph, Beverley, Caruso, Payton, Satoransky or Wright at the right price at pg. Ditto at pf. Realistically, Payton isn’t too dissimilar from Rubio. Shaky shooter who hovers around 50% TS%, good distributor, solid defender. He’d likely be cheaper than Rubio was too, and he did shoot 37% from three in 44 games a couple years ago which makes me wonder what he could become with our supposed world class coaching staff. Him, Joseph (doubt Pacers wanna spend too much on a backup) or Satoransky (Wiz have a ton of decisions and can’t re-sign them all), not necessarily in that order, make a lot of sense and could be quite realistic and at a reasonable price of under 10M. Add in Caruso too (2/10?) and we’ve really solidified the pg spot imo and upgraded overall.

One of those wouldn't be sexy and I’m sure the lynch mob would be out for Lindsey but that, and an improved and hungrier Gobert and Mitchell (I think both take noticeable leaps) could be enough for 53-56 wins imo.

If we flipped Favors (or opted out of him) for a better Crowder, I think we could be looking at 55-58 wins.

That said, we have a massive uphill battle to make the finals the next 3-4 years. The Dubs, Nuggets, Blazers, and maybe even Rox are formidable. And the Lakers and/or Clips could be.

We’re not getting Tobias
It may be true but why is that hilarious?
its not hilarious, it’s sad.

I don’t think we should look a gift horse in the mouth if either of Memphis or Toronto want to do a deal. I think the most likely outcome in free agency is we end up skunked.
