What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Another thing Locke and Tony discussed is the possibility that Durant and Kawhi go the Clippers and Kyrie goes to the Lakers and then the Lakers could also still possibly trade for Anthony Davis. If all that happens we're completely ****ed no mater what we do or who we add this offseason.

47 names right there that I would take over Conley in an instant. Top 30 my ***. Conley had a "career year" last year because he was the only guy on the team worth a dang. His team still sucked even though he put up such good stats. I'm sure there are other players on bad teams who put up some great stats too.

There are other guys I would rather have than Conley (Siakim, Richardson, Capella, Nurkic, etc. and guys like that), but those names above are all better prospects than Mike Conley and/or had better or comparable seasons too.

The crazy thing - almost every single name up there makes less than Mike Conley's almost $70 million for the next two years. Pass on Conley.

So many of those guys are not better than Conley and there are easily 17 guys that did not have better years. He was a top 30 player last year. He had garbage... literal garbage he played with. Being that efficient while creating all the offense is impressive.

I love the thought of him being a chucker and then saying you'd take Lavine over him in a second. If you need to win a basketball game tomorrow there are not 30 names on that list that anyone should take over Conley.

Sabonis, Randle, Vucevic are laughable... if you don't want old dudes why is Lowry and CP3 on there.

Conley is completely under-rated by some just because he is on the other side of 30... guys that win playoff series are generally older.

Why is it so hard to just admit the guy is really effing good and would immediately cure so much of our issue? I get it... you'd rather have 20 somethings... most of those "promising" players will never be as good as Conley. Conley at 2 years 68M is a fair contract and a better use of space than some middling guy like Lamb, Rozier, plus Favs.

I knew you couldn't just take the list and move on.

Originally, I said there are 50 guys I would rather have than Conley. I listed 47 who were clear to me "guys I would rather have" based on their ability, age and contract. In my post of 47, I literally said "There are other guys I would rather have than Conley (Siakim, Richardson, Capella, Nurkic, etc. and guys like that), but those names above are all better prospects than Mike Conley and/or had better or comparable seasons too." "Those names above" are the 47.

If I'm starting a franchise right now and I can pick anybody in the league for their current salary, there are easily 50 guys I would rather have.

Conley is a great dude, and I would take him if it meant just taking him. He is not worth sacrificing multiple draft picks, all our cap space and players for. He's just not. We aren't close enough to a title that Conley makes the difference.

Sweet... and I said Conley was a top 30 player... didn't say he was a top 30 trade asset. Hardly any of those dudes were better than him last year.

I think our window is closer than people think... I prefer to have a guy in his prime for the next 4 years, but if we don't get Kemba or Tobias then Conley is fuggin good for 2 years... at that point our cap space is not worth what we wanted it to be... our pick or picks... those are much more likely to be Tony Bradley types rather than Rudy Gobert's. You don't get 10 years to build in the NBA anymore.

Whatever man keep pumping up using assets to get Winslow or Russell... even if Conley falls off the next couple years he's likely better than they are over the next 3-4 years.

It’s seriously disheartening that we are looking at the greatest class of free agents in the history of the league and we’re discussing the pros and cons of players such as Conley, Lamb, Oubre, etc...

How pathetic.

We have two young and exciting cornerstones that any franchise would be lucky to build around, a solid supporting cast of players, an elite coaching staff, and a top notch organization from the top down. And that’s not even talking about the fan base - regardless of what Westbrook says.

And yet we’re sitting here talking about how lucky we would be to get Tobias Harris?? Wow.

Any one of these free agent stars that consider winning seriouly would have to stop and take a good hard look at the Jazz. It’s all here. A winning foundation for years to come.

Now, if the narrative that guys don’t want to play in Utah is still correct, then what are we doing? What’s the point?

Then I agree with the “tanking boys”. If the draft is truly the only possibility to get anyone worth a damn - then let’s do it. We should have done it last year. Let’s do whatever it takes to get that third missing piece that aligns with the Rudy/DM timeline.

We’ve been stuck in average mediocrity for about 20 years now. Seriously, it really is now or never for this franchise. DM and Rudy will bolt the first chance they get. Why wouldn’t they?

All DL has talked about is financial flexibility but I really don’t see it. How does a team like the Clippers lose 2 more games than us this season and yet still has the capability to go out and grab 2 max free agents??

This will go down as either the greatest off season in the team’s history, or the most heartbreaking.

We should also have a conversation about at what point Rudy gets tired of being stuck in the ****ing mud and bounces in two years. That is relevant.

Also it isn't just adding Conley that takes us the next step... it's DM and Rudy both getting better. DM has more room there, but Rudy is a worker and has gotten better every year.

We need those things to happen plus Conley, plus another pickup or draft pick hitting, etc. it takes some luck... hell if Draymond doesn't nut punch Lebron the Cavs end up ringless under Lebron.

Our window is now... improve and make significant progress or we are retooling again in a couple years.

All of these names would be worse to significantly worse than Conley on the Jazz.

You don’t want Conley because of injuries and contract but would take CP3? Sure.

Julius Randle? Lavine?? LMAO!!

I know you just didn’t want to admit your hyperbole (and still couldn’t even get to 50) but I also know you wouldn’t rather we trade for ****ing Vucevic over Conley.

Also lol at including players already on the Jazz
