Saw that Jaylen Nowell is staying in the draft. Pac-12 POTY and averaged around 16/5/3 on about 50/44/78 splits as a sophomore. Anyone know why he's ranked so low in most mocks? Not in ESPN's top 100, 69th on Bleacher Report, 52nd on the Athletic. I haven't watched him. Mediocre athlete? Poor shot selection? Bad defender?

I dunno, real short clips, not much to say. Bazley's handle didn't look super promising in the one screen we saw him in. But you really can't see what I'd need to see from Bazley in that type of workout (aka playing defense in a team setting).

I have a hard time putting much stock into anything done under the agents watch. He doesn’t have any film or stats at a high level to compare to.

If they decide to take him, great. I’m a fan and I like taking a gamble at this spot in the draft. But they need more info before they should be willing to pull the trigger at #23 (and I don’t see him falling far into round 2.)

Sure, these pro day workouts are to get teams' attention to invite guys in for private workouts. Sometimes players blow teams away in these one-on-none settings, like Kristaps Porzingis and Joel Embiid did. Last year, Grayson Allen made a real impression on the Jazz at his pro day. Donovan Mitchell attended it as well. I hope the Jazz had a few people there today.

The GM of the Spurs (Buford) was at the workout today. Not sure which player he was scouting, but possibly both of them.

I understand the fear. It's justified in many ways and many cases.

I just think we have to swing on a player who could be a transcendent talent. If some of these tweener SF/PF guys pan out and become solid contributors, they help us no doubt. If Carsen Edwards pans out and becomes a lights out shooter and scorer from the PG position, we become more marketable. He's the type guy neutral fans would flock to. His college success coupled with an exciting brand of shooting and off the dribble scoring would attract a new fan base. Pair him with Donovan, and it could change the course of our franchise.

I think we took Grayson last year because he was safe. He was a good shooter who played for a great coach and he performed well over a long college career. We didn't take a risk last year hoping we could put an instant contributor next to a lineup we thought was ready. This year, I think we are ready to take a risk. If Carsen doesn't pan out, oh well. We missed on a late pick in a "bad" draft. If he becomes the next Lou Williams or maybe even better, we are going to be so glad we got him.

I don't think there is anything transcendent he just seems like a sparkplug player you bring off the bench at 6'0". Certainly not a pure point. Averaging more turnovers than assists is really, really bad. You probably couldn't find an NBA starting point guard who accomplished that dubious feat in their 2nd or 3rd year of college. 6'0" guys just have it rough in the NBA. 6'0" Jawun Evans was a really good college player a few years ago and can't crack an NBA rotation.



Tyus Jones had a great freshman season at Duke but isn't anything in the NBA



Napier, Ulis, Burke, to name a few more. The ones that do make it like Kemba, Conley, Paul all have cat like quickness and speed, great vision and passing ability, and are pretty good ball hawks.

I like Bazely. That dunk video was impressive. He's got stamina. I watched his highlights the other day and he seems like a pretty good player with NBA length.

Nickeil would probably be the guy outside the top 10 worth trading up for. I just don't know what we have to trade, unless part of a deal where we agree to trade Favors after picking up his option on July 5 or 6, or whatever the date is.

The way we've been working out mid 2nd-round guys makes me wonder if we might have a deal on the table to trade back.

Talen Horton-Tucker from Iowa State. He might be in our draft range. His body language wasn't great considering all the powerful dudes he was working out for. He seems to have a bit of cool-for-school attitude. Combine that with the fact that he needs to lose 10+ lbs and the fact that he recently got arrested for petty theft, and I start to question whether the Jazz would be willing to draft him. Guy is talented though. His skill level could eventually rival that of a guy like Brad Beal, but he'd have to work hard to do it, and there's no guarantee that he will.

1) no two players are the same- to pigeon hole a prospect like that is so pathetic that i don't have words. I could stop here.

2) Babbitt was a scorer for Nevada who was an opportunistic 3 point shooter who took 3 attempts per game. Cam Johnson shot 6 threes per game.

3) Babbitt shot 41% from three in the WAC on his 3 attempts. The mother ****ing WAC. Cam Johnson shot 46% in the ACC on his 6 attempts per.

4) Luke Babbitt's eFG was 54%. Cam Johnson was 62%. Not even in the same stratosphere.

Babbitt was a good shooter in a weak league. Cam Johnson was an elite shooter in the best league in the country.

Cy, you're a smart young man. Act like it.

Babbit's problem in the league was not his shot. He could still shoot(40% career 3p shooter in the NBA). His problem, like Cy put it, was that he sucks at everything else. Just like Cam Johnson sucks at everything else.

Bazley looks good... still no idea how to evaluate whatever video of him I've seen. Give me some meaningful games I can look at.

THT is skilled... I'm intrigued by his footwork on off the dribble shots...I'm still wary of his lack of athleticism... He was shooting it flat footed on that video... I don't know if it mean anything but worth pointing out.
