What's new

Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

Lowery 33 right now and he's the 3rd best player on a finals team. I bet they are pissed they don't have a young PG who isn't as good and a late first instead.

I get the point, but to fair....

Pascal Siakam was the 27th pick in 2016 and he was the leading scorer in game 1 of the finals. I bet they are glad they picked a player who would contribute at a high level on a rookie scale contract rather than trade the pick for an overpaid veteran who walks in a couple years instead.

And weren't they trying to move Lowry last year or the year before? Anyway, there are no certainties, every decision carries risk. And as an irrational fan I want everything, I want them to sign Kemba and Harris and draft the next Pascal with the 23rd pick and the next Royce Oneil with the 53rd.

To be fair to what?

The point is that a high level PG can help you win it all, no matter the age. The Jazz have late round picks that help them. They dont need that guy. They need a high level PG.

Top 10? He's better than these guys for our Utah Jazz?

Westbrook
Steph
Doncic
Paul
Lillard
Kyrie
Kemba
Jrue
Simmons
Trae
Fox
There are also arguments to be had for Lowry, Russell, Dragic, and Murray.

I would rather pick up a top 15-25 type PG, keep our pick and have money left to spend than pay Conley $70 million the next two years to be a top 11-15 type PG.

It would probably cost the JAzz less to move up and draft NAW

Conley is not Steph, Tony Parker or Kyrie. He is better than Chalmers, but we only have a Wade clone and not LeBron or Bosh or Ray Allen.

We would pay a ton to get Conley to be our 2nd best offensive player as a 32 year old facilitating PG. I'm shocked people think it's such a good idea.

He averaged 21 ppg this year. Please refrain from talking out of your ***.

Me: Lowry is a high level PG who is 33, Utah having Conley would give them a high level PG and help them a lot. The age doesnt matter.

Lopo and Mellow: BUT HE ISNT STEPH CURRY

The audacity of that Lopo post is just terrifying.

"He isnt as good as Steph Curry, but he's better than Mario Chalmers"

I am literally confused as hell. Are you now arguing he is better than Steph? Or are you arguing that he is worse than Chalmers?

I think I need to go back and read the first of this exchange.

Like wtf are you even saying?
Cy - you are the one that said a high level PG can help you win it all. That's why I brought up the last 4 PGs to win the title. Outside of Chalmers, Conley is not in the same league as Steph, Kyrie or Parker.

Oh, it makes so much more sense now. Because only the PGs who win the finals can help you win the finals.

/sarcasm

Trading for Conley at the deadline made sense. Rubio, Thabo, Udoh and a pick for Conley. They clear cap and we keep Favors and have the MLE (9ish) to use for upgrades. We could have seen how much Conley helped during the playoffs so we would know what we have going into the summer.

Trading for him now is terrible. We kill all cap room, lose Favors, only have the BAE ($4ish). We don't know how much better if any he makes us.

When was the last time a 32 year old player outside of LeBron was expected to go to a new team and elevate the play as much as some of you are expecting?

You are saying things that literally don't matter.
