What's new

Hoopsworld ranks the Utah Jazz as the No.3 team in the Northwest division

Give Harris another. He came into the worst situation possible for any PG, replacing a top 3 PG and entering into a complex offense without it's creator. Hopefully he can come in, help us win some games, or at least increase his trade value with a good year.

I agree about most part. Also about the Dirk in waiting too, because we have a Mailman in waiting.
Anyway i think i would be fine if harris gets 5-6 million a year, but honestly 9 million p/yr is too much for him. He wont be any better anymore. He had his best season in new jersey when he became an allstar but he couldnt even carry them to the playoffs together with carter. Thats the best he can do. He cant be in our future plans by any means, it is more logical to find a young pg to team up with hayward favors and kanter. I would be fine if we still had Maynor.

Jefferson for Hamilton and the rights to Brandon Knight. Harris for Calderon and the right to swap picks. And I don't love Hamilton, but that's the price you pay to effectively buy another lottery pick that should've been drafted earlier. Calderon starts but Knight has the chance to compete for the starting job, Calderon is about as pure a PG as it gets and offers a nice contrast to Knight's game while he refines those skills (conceivably under the mentoring of Calderon). Finally, Calderon's game will age well, and I think if Knight becomes a nice starter, you can keep Calderon to once again be the best backup in the league (which would also serve to marginalize Calderon's decreasing defensive ability).

/silly, silly pipe dream.

i dont like calderon but he can play better than harris for us. And I would do the Jefferson trade in a heartbeat. Hamilton cant give too much from now on, but at least we can get rid of big als contract and get knight. But anyway it seems a little bit impossible. Im not sure if we are gonna make any trades this year even if the lockout ends soon.

So you are willing to trade a 20-10 center blocking 2 shots a game in his prime, for some beat up shooting guard who essentially is making the same amount of money and didn't want to be a part of a rebuilding team plus allegedly involved in a strike in an effort to get his coach fired "in a heartbeat"??? Wow, Kanter's lovers are just getting more and more desperate by day to get Kanter playing time.

And Brandon "should've been top 5" Knight, who happens to play the position the Jazz are oldest/thinnest at.

I would love to see us get better at the point, but that is neither our biggest issue nor most llikely position to upgrade. Realistically we can improve most at the 3. Harris is serviceable. And even when we do get a better point we should keep Harris as the backup (at the right price). We could do far worse.

Boozer was putting 20 10 numbers too, does it make him a very good player?
Its not that i love hamilton so much but at least we can add depth at that position. Big Al will only bring frustration if he gets benched while young players are playing. I would prefer to see hamilton for 2 yrs instead of Big Al.
You should stop dreaming about Big Al anymore because he will not stay too long since we drafted Kanter. I am not desperate but pretty sure that he will send Big Al to bench pretty soon when the season starts.

This. I mean our PG position isnt our biggest hole in our team, and it is by far the easiest to alter especially with all of the given trade pieces this team now posseses. We are uneccesarily stressing over a position that can be improved on with relative ease (in compared to others) whether its via draft or FA. Besides, Harris played for us quite well, shooting 16 percent from three and averaging almost 16 points in a completely new system The fact that you guys dismiss him after such a short time is quite juvenile, let him improve his trade value to the very least before shipping him off. Lets fix our SF scenario first.

Ok dude this is the only clip I can think of, but this isnt the only instance of him hitting a very clutch shot with seconds left. Besides, your argument of "5points vs 3points" is completely retarded since in both instances you are banking everything on a shot you NEED to make in order for your team to win, and dealing with that psychologically as you take the shot, with all of this in the midst of potentially starting a scoring run to try and make a late-season playoff run for the 8th seed. Dont say it isnt clutch, and dont say this game was a fluke on his part because he has hit clutch threes before. I think that is why we need to SEE whether he plays well in systems or not, since you are basing his ineptitude on a complete GUESS. You have absolutely no idea how well hell play in the Jazz system. So, why dont we find out? Thats where you are wrong, amongst with all the other haters. Give the guy a chance, im not saying hes dwill but hes certainly a decent enough pg for us to make several playoff runs in the future.

Boozer probably only had a handful of games in which he blocked 2 shots, let alone averaging 2 blocks.

Kanter will have to earn his playing time. I am not a betting man, but I am willing to bet that Kanter won't be able to take much playing time from Big Al. I'd say 10 to 15 minutes max, so I guess you should stop dreaming about Kanter playing significant minutes.

I am more worried about having both Bell and Miles on the team, than about having Harris as the PG. Our weakest position is still the wing until and unless proven otherwise.
