Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

I’m sorry, but I don’t see a Jazz player in Edwards. He’s a SG in a (small) PG’s body. He’s inefficient, can’t create for others and is a liability on defense. I’d rather have Ty Jerome despite his shortcomings.
Ofcourse my opinion means he’ll probably turn out the next Lou Williams...
I want to trade up to get Rui, Clarke or Doumboya but I think Carsen is going to be a quality offensive NBA player.

Ah, very similar. So outside of volume, there's not much evidence Carson will be a better shooter than Burke.

Hot take... Trey is actually a decent offensive backup pg. If he didn't have the history with our team I'd say we should try and sign him this offseason to a minimum deal. If Carson is a slightly better version of Trey without the headache I'll take it.

Today in Locke's head...

Still trying to trade the 23rd pick for shooting in his mock draft. Thinks you can get the same player at 40 in this draft as 23, so another reason why he wants to trade the pick. First talked to the Cavs about Kevin Love, and they want multiple first round picks. Talked to Pelicans about E'Twaun Moore. Talked to Indy about Doug McDermott... These other teams also want Jae Crowder in addition to the 23rd pick. Talked to Sacramento about Bjelica, and Denver about Hernangomez.

And for the prospects... TLDR: Honestly, not a lot of inside info. Seemed to really like NAW but he won't get to 23. He got excited talking about Keldon Johnson.

His first prospect he talks about is NAW. Thinks he can be a nice secondary playmaker in Quin's system. Probably won't fall to 23. He fits what we are, but might be redundant with Grayson.

Next is Talen "Hooker"-Tucker. Able to get shots at a very high level...bad FT shooter.

Cam Johnson - Not great at shooting coming off screens yet. Late bloomer, had a hip surgery.

Keldon "Kendall" Johnson - "Interesting" and "shows a lot of promise." Thinks he's a good shooter and wasn't used a lot in pick and roll. Looks like he belonged. Untapped potential

KZ Okpala - One of the most interesting athletes in this group. Have to see if you believe his spike in production. Likes that KZ can make the floor in multiple ways, whereas Ty Jerome doesn't have that luxury.

Ty Jerome - Locke isn't sure if Grayson can play because of his lack of lateral quickness. And he worries about Jerome in the same way.

Eric Paschall - Likes him a lot, but worried about this shooting. Would draft him at 40 if he traded the 23rd pick to SAC.

His trade candidates really reiterated my disappointment with the last offseason. So many of those guys could have just been signed using MLE along with FVV, Joe Harris, etc.

By hot take you mean garbage doodoo take

Take:

The Jazz talked to Locked and told him to be dumb this offseason about prospects and the draft.

Take:

It wasn’t that hard for him to oblige.

Listen to the pod... he’s a god damn broadcaster and pronounced 0% of the names correctly... many were butchered in awkward fashion.

FYI... I like Locke in general. But he’s easy to make fun of.

I sure hope you're right, but the first of the 5 stages of grief is denial...:p
Then anger: I CAN'T BELIEVE WE TRADED FOR ****ING KEVIN LOVE
Bargaining: Alright, he can space the floor, throw sweet outlet passes, and Rudy can cover for his defense. He was a 26/13/4 guy!
Depression: Goddammit, we're locked into this core forever and are gonna pay our frontcourt 75mil a year we're ****ed
Acceptance: Whatever, we weren't gonna win a title anyways since 2 ultramegasuperteams formed *cries into D.O.N. Issue #3s*

I used to give Locke a lot more **** for mispronouncing names since it seemed unprofessional, but he was on a pod recently and said he has some form of dyslexia (I think auditory dyslexia) that makes it hard for him to translate written words into spoken words.

Imagine Chunk at the fridge in Mikey and Brand's house, filling his mouth with instant whipped cream, and lamenting "Oh man am I depressed".

I mean, he doesn't watch college so Idk how you expect him to know their names. Not like he's looking at sheets with phoentic spellings.

He's an announcer though... like he should know the names from saying them... I don't know anything about the dyslexia stuff so I guess I will cut him some slack. He can't be that bad on the play call... is he?

He gets some players wrong, but it's probably not a big deal since pretty much only Jazz fans are listening to the radio broadcast. He should get better with names anyways though for his own sake since he goes on national TV sometimes. Dude works hard and I really respect his hustle, but if he goes on NBATV yelling about Jay Morant and Talen Hooker, then people are just gonna think he's some weirdo hack.

Talen Hooker. that was the one that got me... kinda funny.

On Lord PGAB's "mock": He gave me exactly what I wanted from him. I'm not going to worry what he's calling it.

The mock is what we expect teams will do. I'll leave that to the Givonys and the Vecenies of the world who have real intel.

The big board is the general ranking of the players without regard to teams' draft position.

What he gave is a combination (we need a good name for it): what the teams should do given their draft position and his own valuing of the players. It's frankly what I'm more interested in seeing from any one of you at this point than either a pure mock or a pure big board.
