What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

34% through 2 years. 18.7ppg last year.

The guy is a scorer. Considering he looks good in LA, I think he would look better in a real offense.

hmmm i don't think he was that great last year but maybe that was a blip If he gets it up to 37-38 % that's different but even then i'm nervous as all hell about him bringing anything else to the table

Beggars can't be choosers. We need good players and great scorers. We would be lucky to add Kuzma for late 1sts and cap space.

I wonder if New Orleans would be interested in Favors. If you could trade Favors for Hill and Kuzma, we’d still have room for DAngelo

So I saw someone on twitter say that Woj mentioned Indiana and Boston but not Utah but I just watched it for myself and he did mention Utah as a possible destination for Conley, along with the other two teams.

I hope the Pacers get him. I feel like it’s really likely that D-Lo becomes a free agent, and I think they’d be our biggest competition

but the dude can't defend or rebound
His best defensive play was when he shoved Lebron to rotate.

But seriously, Quin doesn't play guys that don't play defense, so he'd have to improve quickly or ride the bench. He's still on his rookie contract though, so he's cheap. So there's that.

So are Rubashov’s hookers

"The Nets and free agent forward Tobias Harris have mutual free agent interest in each other, league sources told The Athletic. Harris represents a fit at power forward, where Brooklyn shuffled four players last season. Harris, who turns 27 on July 15, fits the age trajectory of Brooklyn’s young core, provides offensive versatility as a playmaking four in pick-and-roll sets and as a shooter, and fits Brooklyn’s culture as a well-regarded teammate over his career."

It is so unlikely that we get Tobias. We need to trade up in the draft, and really push for Russell if the Nets cut him loose.

I've realized Tobias is a pipe dream. Hopefully though New Jersey is where he lands. That would likely mean cutting DLo loose and give us our best shot at landing any max player. Sure there's plenty to knock with DLo, but man the potential is there and he's young. Locking him up for 4 years with Donovan & Rudy would be more than I could've asked for in a Jazz offseason FA signing.

Everyone keeps forgetting that both Russell and donovan are inefficient players. As well as that Russell has no athleticism, no speed. So u better hope he never gets in a funk with his shot. Cause if that happens he's completely useless. If they do sign Russell their is a chance they don't make the playoffs. Best case scenario they make the 2nd round

The idea is that both their efficiency improves by playing with eachother. They're inefficient because they have to carry a large part of the offensive burden for their teams. Both their loads would be lessened by playing together, allowing for more efficient play. Apart from that DLo is quite a good passer, so he would not be useless at those times when his shot isn't falling.
I agree with you that he's not the greatest or quickest athlete, but he's as good a player as we could hope to get.

I think the Jazz will have a very tough time landing any max guy simply because of supply and demand. There's a whole of teams, many in big markets so competition is fierce.

Off the top of my head, here's the teams that have cap space for max guys:

Atlanta
Brooklyn (2)
Dallas
Indiana
LA Clippers (2)
LA Lakers
New York
Philadelphia
Utah

That's not counting teams like Toronto or Denver that can get max money by tweaking a few things.

Point is, go into FA assuming that we get nobody that's a gamechanger and you'll probably feel a bit better about the most likeliest of outcomes.

Been prepared for this for a while. Not because I'm cynical, but just because. DL has already indicated his level of optimism regarding free agency through his decisions. If anyone hasn't been taking a gander at Kevin Love, they're not reading the tea leaves. However, it does seem increasingly concerning to me that they're looking/hoping for a reason to bring Favors back.
