What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

I think we could use our space more responsibly on 3rd or 4th tier free agents and be a lot better off.

I did qualify getting Love as a last option, mainly because it allows us to also use the full mid-level on someone like Beverly. Beverly plus a healthy Love moves the needle. Heathy Love is a big question mark though. . .

Heathy Love sounds kind of erotic.

Not sure how you are structuring that... sending a guaranteed like Favs and Korver? If we are taking him into cap space then we don't get to use MLE.

My issue with Love is similar to my issues with Bjelica… can be played off the floor and doesn't create... except he makes $30M instead of $7M. I honestly think I'd rather have Rudy Gay at the 4 in a playoff series over Love regardless of cost. So if I can get the better option on a cheaper and shorter contract I'm going that route.

Honestly Love and Beverly might be the best we can do. It seems very unlikely we're going to get Tobias, Kemba or Russell and our assets are s*** so we're probably not going to get anyone better than Love through a trade. It's definitely not ideal but we might not have any other options besides running it back with this same team year after year.

Word on the street is they want an asset for Love... which is bananas. He is bad money now and will be worse every year.

I'm telling yall if we split our cap space between Bev and Rudy Gay we'd be really effing good... would also allow us to get in on trade conversations if someone has buyers remorse on Tobias, DLo, or if Kemba is retained on supermax and Hornets look to pivot. Or if Conley trade doesn't happen in the offseason and they then want to complete in season.

Love doesn't address the creation need and is not great defensively. Bev gives us some shooting and defense, but he's not creating anything. Perimeter creation is as big a need as shooting... maybe more. It just makes no sense to go after Love.

K but you keep suggesting that keeping Favors is in some fantasy scenario both plausible and a good idea. You also keep suggesting we not give up on a guy that’s been in the league for 5 years and done ****ing nothing.

I've said we shouldn't pick up Favors' $18 million expiring deal, but keep Favors long term if we don't get a big fish. I also think we should keep Exum instead of trading him for negative value. Using #23 and Exum to trade back 17 spots to get Bjelica isn't worth it to me.

I'd send out Exum in any deal for Love. Favors/Exum for Love and it keeps us operating over the cap. Though I believe we'd be sending a first rounder, it'd be nice if Cleveland gave us those two second rounders back.

That's the other rub, we would probably need to do the deal before actual free agency to avoid capspace. I guess I assume that the FO has a decent idea of their chances in free agency.

So Woj tweeted that Lakers and Celtics are going after AD and NO is trying to use the #4 pick to get a high-level player in trade...

I have a feeling Conley might be that guy. Honestly they should just keep that pick unless they get a good young player. I can't think of any high level player that #4 can get.

Maybe DeRozan? Heard he's available... it's not enough for Beal... interesting.

Let's hope the Celtics get him.

It’s apparentely mentioned in this article that there is a growing belief around the league that the Bulls are open to trading anyone but Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr.

I'd rather trade for OP Jr. than Lavine... but I could get on board with trading for Zach if the price were right. I just don't think he ever plays league average defense and he's kinda a low BBIQ guy... no doubt he is talented and would add shooting and creation.
