FA Targets at the MLE/BA level

If we don’t start the year above the cap, we don’t have the full MLE.

I haven’t run the numbers, but I’m pretty sure it’s either a good chunk of cap or it’s Favors.

Seconded... TJ don’t know the cap.

Ingles isn’t a 4.

Why do people think this???? He doesn’t rebound and can’t guard bigger stronger guys in the post.

Royce is our 4... if anyone on the roster is.

This deal will be very good if we do waive Favs and get some additional pieces in free agency... if we stick with Favs then it’s only good.

Hey everyone... listen up...

We either waive Favs and operate with cap space or we keep Favs and have the room exception which is two years and 4.5 M... no other exceptions...

So either we use some space or we keep Favs... under no situation do we have the MLE or BAE... thank you for your time.

For 2019-20, here are the contracts:
Conley $32.5
Gobert $25
Favors $17.7
Ingles $12
Exum $9.6
Mitchell $3.6
Bradley $2
O'Neale $1.6
Niang $1.6 (team option - I assume we keep him)
Neto $2 (team option - interesting decision)
Roster spot #11 $800k
Roster spot #12 $800k
Roster spot #13 $800k

TOTAL: Right around $109 million (which is the cap for 2019-20)

That means we will have the Room MLE ($4.7) and the ability to add minor contracts. We could consider waiving Favors and hoping to bring him back at a lower number. It would be risky to waive Favors, but if somebody picked up his $17.7 million deal, that would hurt our efforts to keep him and Conley. But if we could do it and extend him to $12 or $13, we would have an additional $5 million to work with.

Option No. 2 — acquiring Conley into the cap
Or, the Jazz could complete the trade by waiting until after July 1, opening up cap space, and then trading for Conley into the space they have under the cap...
...If they use Option No. 2 and go under the cap to get Conley, though, the room MLE is only $4.7 million.

My biggest question right now is - did we acquire any trade exceptions in this deal? If so, how big?

No... they have the trade exception in the deal...

One thing to watch... we might use our AB trade exception to get Wagner and the other lakers they are trying to dump. Fills in the roster and gets us some young guys for free.

Also disappointed we couldn’t dump Bradley in the Memphis deal... would have been nice to clear just a little more room... as we hunt around for FA before just bringing back Favs an extra million would have been nice.

We absolutely must waive Favors. Or include him in a trade.

It is at least reasonable to keep Favs with Conley... since he’s a pick and roll god and could do some thangs... but let’s say you have 13 of Favs 17 M to Niko and then signed are Davis with the rest... then Caruso with a portion of the room exception.

I reallllly wish we could have put Exum in the deal instead of Crowder. If nothing good came in FA you would then have 25 M in expirings with good players to make more trades.

Curious to know what Memphis would have taken. If they would have taken Exum instead of Crowder, then DL really needs an intervention and we could detox him from Exum on small-to-medium sized doses of Elfrid Payton.
