Conley Officially a Jazzman

I don't think you guys realize just how bad Bradley is. He is not a viable backup Center in the NBA by any stretch of the imagination.
Which is exactly why keeping Favors is so huge. Favs picks up half his mins. at the 5 and is a damn good starter if/when Rudy misses games.

Unless some miracle happens with a top tier FA, Jazz are keeping Derrick.

So this adds to the first round picks Dennis has used chasing his elusive "white whale" - 7 first rounders to get Burke through Conley.

Has a GM ever used so many picks on just one position?

**** yeah! The Jazz kept Exum and Favors! I had a feeling the Jazz were done with Crowder after his flakey shooting last year.

Crowder brought so much more than shooting. He brought toughness that no other Jazz player had. Utah need to find a personality to replace that, someone who isn't afraid to get in the face of opponents or teammates. I wanted him as a member of the Jazz when he was in college. He is a total team and hard hat kind of guy. I am very sorry to see Utah's enforcer go.

DL has a history of making some draft day deals, so maybe he will move up in the draft or get another pick. Fingers crossed... at least to make draft day exciting.

Why does Andy talk about the small MLE? Jazz stay over the cap, don't they? Assuming Favors' option is picked up.

Draft Schofield. He’s basically a younger version of Jae. He won’t be a star, but he can come in and play right away.

wrong.

Grayson = not good
23rd pick = crap shoot
Korver = retiring
Jae = replaceable

Agreed, mostly. Grayson may have been good but never anything more than decent rotation player and certainly expendable. I'll miss Jae but not his 3 point chucking. He was Rodney Hood lite, shot us into games and shot us out of other games. Didn't rebound much, didn't go to the hoop much, and didn't go to the line hardly at all. Plus we get to keep the best backup center in the league and damn good power forward in his own right. Now, just a wee bit more shooting from the 4, and we're good.

My preference would have been Harris (Oh well), and D-Lo was too big a risk in that if we didn't get him, we'd be stuck with others' leavings.

Had Conley played in the East, we'd be talking of him as a multiple All Star.

Can the jazz wave favs and then turn around and re sign him for something like 3/21 deal?

Derrick is worth way more than that once he's on the market, he'd walk at that price, and there's a chance he'd get picked up off waivers even if we gave him a respectable offer (say 3/36).

The real question is - if we were willing to give up 2 1sts now, why the hell didn't we do it at the trade deadline? This is such BS. We wasted Conley's best playoff run and half of his value just to give up even more value for him now. WTF DL?

You and others are overvaluing picks in the 20s, which is what they're likely to be. Besides, if we want to get into the draft at the 20s, there are ways of doing it (see Gobert). Giving up two picks of players with less than 25% chance of becoming a rotation player for someone who is possibly a difference maker is a no brainer.

As Lindsey's biggest critic, I have to give him credit for getting a deal done. And he did it without giving up two players he believes to be key contributors: Favors and Exum.

I doubt he made this deal without gauging the interest of FA's to be like Harris and Walker. Hate to give up Jae, but the reality is that Crowder was much like Booker...tough, likable guys who were inefficient.

Never did like Allen, so meh on goving him up. Picks in the late-mid 20's are easily replaceable.

Jazz now have a very solid main 6 (including Royce) - maybe 7 if Dante rises from the ded

Good deal, imo. Yes, expensive. But Jazz are a better team.
No MLE

Yes, if he clears waivers. I would imagine more like a 3 year $36 million deal ($12 per), but it would help us either way.

Favors is going to get paid more than that by another team. Look at the boat that Dallas is about to offer Horford.
