Remember Steph's ankles and Tim Duncan's knees turning to dust? There are plenty of examples of "injury prone" players turning out OK, especially as they grow into their adult bodies. I think the Jazz have been very, very cautious with Exum, which I appreciate. I'm not going to fault them for that.
The Jazz have all but treated him like the Mona Lisa being transported to an underground bunker. I appreciate it, but he's a stiff breeze away from a broken back until proven otherwise. There is a certain amount of randomness involved, but some folks are just not built for their game for one reason or another. Exum is quickly sliding into the latter.
Again, that's not his fault and he does get a fair amount of undeserved criticism (from me among others). As I understand, he's a nice guy and I hope like hell it's all just a fluke. History should never be taken as an indication of future performance. That said, it does provide baselines from which to draw educated conjecture.
