What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Why the heck would we want that scrub FN?

He's still only 20, has loads of potential, and would be mentored by Donovan and Rudy. If we decide to move Exum, we have a PG/SG defensive specialist we could groom in his place. All this talk of filling out the roster with old vet minimum guys, we still need youth with high upside to groom. We can't simply rely on Exum, Bradley (eh), Niang (eh) and late 2nd rounders to represent player development off the bench.

What are reasonable Favors trade destinations? Also, I don't think Favors will get us a 1st rounder back in a deal so I'm just listing 2nd rounders. These are the ideas where the teams could absorb him into their cap space.

- Knicks - they can absorb his contract and provide a great short term veteran leader for their young roster. NY has one 2020 2nd rounder and two 2021 2nd rounders

- Hawks - like NY, they might really value Favors as a veteran mentor for their young roster. ATL has one 2020 2nd rounder and numerous future 2nd rounders

- Boston - if they swing a miss on free agents, maybe look to add a good one year vet to replace Horford. Boston has two 2020 2nd round picks.

- Clippers - they have the space and the need for front court help. They have at least one 2nd rounder in the next few drafts.

- Pacers - I could see him fitting well there. They have three 2021 2nd round picks

- Kings - Another young team who might want a good mentor vet. They have four 2nd rounders in 2020 and three in 2021.

- Lakers - maybe, but I don't see them spending 75% of their cap space on Favors.

- Dallas - if they miss out on other targets, he fits there. They have at least one 2nd rounder the next few years.

Scratch the Lakers and Pacers off that list. The Lakers would only be interested if Favors was waived and would sign with them cheap. The Pacers have a bit of a logjam inside after drafting Goga Bitadze.

I’ll give my spiel on Harris and Niko later, but... just arrived to the beach.

Which one? I would love to give my hot Jazz takes from the beach.

Agree with earlier poster... scratch Lakers and Pacers. I'd add OKC/Houston if there was some sort of three team deal with Adams/Capela. Also add the Pelicans... they have space now and were rumored to be in on the Horford stuff... so might want a center to put alongside Zion... would probably prefer a shooter.

I think the Kings and Celtics are likely the biggest potential suitors. NY would have waiver priority and would claim Favs as by July 8th they'd know if they were out on the KD sweepstakes. Use them to leverage Kings and Celtics.

Good post.

For Favors' sake and ours, I hope we can trade him rather than just lose him for nothing should we decide to part ways.
