What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Favors guarantee date is July 6; free agency opens at noon on July 6.

Is the guarantee by EOD July 6? If so, the Jazz may be able to work something out.
I believe it's end of day but haven't necessarily tried to confirm that.

K, but that’s not happening with Favors on the roster.
Everyone except the big three should be available if there is an opportunity to upgrade them. I'd take Boj over Ingles for example.
As for Fav, most people don't realize how good he is and how much he contributes to the team. Mirotic? Laughable...
Rubio has been replaced by Conley so Fav's fit is much better now and his PT should increase from 23 to 28.

The Jazz will lose Favors to sign Bogie. So any questions about Favors fit would be academic if it happens.

If the Jazz sign Bogdanovic, that leaves the Jazz scary thin in the frontcourt. Gobert would be the only player who averaged more than 4.1 rpg last season. The partial MLE would have to be used on a big guy. Here's who I see the options as,

Not very realistic but still a chance salary wise:
Ed Davis
Noah Vonleh
Taj Gibson

More Realistic Candidates:
Frank Kaminsky
Markieff Morris
Kyle O'Quinn
Mike Muscala
Marquise Chriss
Dragan Bender
Nerlens Noel

If they do, huge blunder on DL for not shipping his DOA corpse there last February.

Are you heart broken that your boy Miroshi* is done in the NBA ? I think you gently said you would rub it in my face after he came here and dominated , take this as me having the final laugh. You rather it this way then him showing you he was a white stiff. Goodbye Miroshi*.

Yep I made a post yesterday about Kaminsky, he seems to have potential Jazz dna. I liked Davis in Toronto and he has somewhat been consistent in his career also

Bojan and Kaminsky in addition to Conley while keeping Donovan, Rudy, Joe, Royce and Exum would be the biggest summer in the history of our franchise.

What's the market for Favors? and if we renounce him are we able to re-sign him? Im a fan of having my cake and eating it too

How is a guy like Taj Gibson not very realistic? Hard working vet, just wants to win, probably wants to compete for a championship before he retires, pretty obvious role on the team, don't think there's many other teams who are going to overpay him, etc.

I think Frank Kaminsky is more unrealistic than Taj Gibson, there's gonna be some team that looks at him and thinks "hey a young dude let go by an organisation that seemingly has no idea what they're doing, bet we can get value out of him", and a stretch 5 is going to have way more suitors than an aging 4/5 that can space to mid range and play solid defense, especially after seeing what Brook Lopez did in the playoffs.

Because I think a more "sexy" team will get Gibson for the MLE and the Jazz would probably have to overpay to get him. I don't think that's the case with Kaminsky though. He may sign for more money but I don't think the Jazz would have to overpay to get him. You're probably right though.

Taj got some grit and Jazz tangibles

Taj has never been a "sexy" player though, he's always on hard working blue collar type teams like all of the Thibedeau teams. I think Snyder has a lot of Thibs' good traits without Thibs' insanely bad traits, and I don't think Taj decides to go to LA to play in Hollywood with LeBron when he could play for a hard working team like Utah instead.

I'd be a bit worried about Brooklyn snagging him since he's from the area but that's the only "sexy" team I'd be worried about for Taj, because historically he hasn't been that type of guy. Jazz wouldn't have to overpay for Frank the Tank because if he signs for more money then the Jazz can't afford him which is why I'm wondering why he's more realistic than Taj.

Yeah I think so too, and he's a hand in glove fit with the holes we have at PF and backup C. He also does a lot of things that Favors does too, and he's actually a slightly better shooter than Favs at the expense of being a worse finisher at the rim.
