News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

Tobias with $180 million, Murray with $170 million, etc.

When I hear a guy like Lillard is getting almost $200 million it's one thing but these guys making almost $200 million just seems insane. Can't imagine.

Aren't Murray and Harris getting less but also over 5 years? Lillard's deal is stupid big. He will make more over 4 years than Wade made his entire career.

The Knicks are getting roasted in the media for passing on paying KD max money. I firmly believe they are brilliant for not getting KD.

Their moves since are questionable, but I think they are banking on Randle or Portis becoming good. There is a chance both become good. Both are PF/C. They can play together next to Barrett.

The Taj Gibson deal was too much, but it's not too long and he is a great lockerroom guy. Bullock spreads the floor. All their deals outside of Randle are done by 2021. They still have money.

I think the Knicks will look better by the end of 2021 than the Nets. I have zero faith in Kyrie. Little faith in Jordan. And little faith in KD's achilles.

I'm 100% in agreement. Losing out on Zion screwed up their plans, and this is a pretty good response.

Stephen A overreacting to the Knicks is such a joke. Porzingis threatened to sign the qualifying offer and leave the Knicks for nothing in 2020. They had to trade him.

They replaced unhappy KP, overpaid Courtney Lee and Hardaway with Randle, Portis, Taj and Bullock. I take that all day over KP leaving for nothing.

Stephen A is an attention seeking clown.

The Nets moving into New York, getting high profile backers (Jay Z) and signing Irving, Durant and De’Andre makes a great villain team.

They deserve to get roasted. KD will be back to being a top 5 player in 2021. Kyrie and him will be a good combo like Kyrie and Lebron were. That team is going to be good. They have solid role players around them and are willing to spend money. I am sure they will make some more moves and spend more money to make a championship run in 2021. They will be a solid playoff team next as well with their best player out.

Randle and Portis could end up being good. Neither of them are going to be in the same discussion as Kyrie and Durant though.

I think DLo gets traded pretty soon. Maybe before the season begins but at least by the trade deadline unless he really takes off for GS. I could see them sending him to the Magic for Augustine and Aaron Gordon. I could even see them trading him for Wiggins and draft picks.

Kyrie just disappointed with Horford, Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Rozier, and others. I'll be intrigued to see what he does with Jordan, Dinwiddie, Allen, Temple, Harris and others. I think the Boston team had more talent and better coaching.

KD at 32+ coming off a ruptured achilles concerns me. Brooklyn relying on Kyrie concerns me. Jordan being really overrated unless he plays with a facilitating PG concerns me.

Unless Brooklyn gets another "star" type player via trade, I don't think there is any chance Brooklyn makes the finals. The East is better. And for as good as some people make Durant out to be, the guy only made one finals when he was playing with a selfish PG. And that team also had Harden and Ibaka. And they got smoked.

Yeah, I think GS was just grabbing Dlo as an asset they could use.

I think there were all sorts of chemistry issues with Boston beyond Kyrie that caused way too many issues. Kyrie also needs a star player next to him to excel like Durant. Jordan is over valued and can be lazy. But I think he will play harder on a good team with teammates he likes pushing him.

As far as Durant goes. He does not rely a ton on his athleticism anyways. He relies on his ball handling skills, shooting, and length the most. He will probably not be back to full speed for a couple years but he is still elite when he gets back. Gay recovered just fine from the same injury. Durant is also a light guy so its not as harsh to deal with. Even with much older surgery techniques Dominique returned to form after his.

I dont think Brooklyn makes it to the finals next season. But unless another super team forms in the East or they have another major injury they will make the finals in 2021.

Kyrie has had one amazing season/postseason in his entire career. Sure, it was magical, but outside of that, Cleveland was the worst team in the NBA when he led them for 4 years. Boston was better when he was hurt and disappointed when he was healthy. In the 3 seasons with LeBron, Kyrie mostly disappointed or was hurt when needed the most. You can rely on Kyrie to be awesome occasionally not regularly.

I think Durant comes back pretty strong, but not late OKC or the last couple years strong. Most importantly, he won't be insulated all season by an all star roster around him. Playing with Curry, Klay, Iggy and Draymond makes life pretty cushy.

Brooklyn will not make the finals with the current roster. I think there is a better chance it becomes a dumpster fire before it becomes a contender.

We shall see about Durant. I have no reason to believe he wont be a top 5 player when healthy though. Unless injuries hit hard to that team there is no way they are a dumpster fire. But you are a Knicks fan somewhat so I would guess you are just hating on Brooklyn.

Kyrie was bad in the playoffs this year but that was the whole team issue not just him. But for his career he is averaging 23.5 ppg and shooting 40% from 3 in the playoffs. He had the one amazing finals when they beat GS. But he was good in the last finals when they lost to GS as well. He put up 29.4 ppg shot 46% from the field and 43% from 3. Those are better numbers than when Cleveland won in the finals. So he improved from the previous year. Injuries have slowed him down and the problems with Celtics slowed him down but this will be a much better situation for him when Durant is back. That is a much better team around him than Boston. It is arguably better team around him than it was with Cleveland.

What is Portland doing? They are letting Aminu, Turner AND Harkless all go in the same offseason? They are sacrificing a ton of wing defenders.

"when healthy"

Name all the NBA players who came back a significant fraction of their prior performance level after torn ACL. (Hint: there is only one player)

The odds of Durant coming back a top 5 player are infinitesimally small. He'll probably still be top 30-50ish, as he can still shoot over people.

Not sure why the heat think they will be good if they get Jimmy Butler seems like a lateral move by time they move heaven and earth for him.

Also Dallas had a lot of space and now come away with Olynyk and Curry?

Portland is doing well... they must not trust Collins at all... brought in whiteside to replace Nurkic for the year. I’m happy to have him in the division... Rudy gonna put it on him.

They did open up some space for next year.
