You are assuming he would have come here. It seems like he wanted to stay so it would not have mattered if we had money.

We'd have more money plus a starting spot. I don't know what JaMychal Green's priorities are, but I do find it funny how often we conflate something not happening with the idea that it couldn't have happened.

And, no he isn't putting us over the top. We are already title contenders and he wouldn't get that many minutes there anyways or close games.

I recall debates about how important Favors was despite only getting 23 minutes and not closing games. Green played 23 mpg last year.

I like JaMychal but I think we all are over rating him. There is a reason you don't here his name in FA that much and he didn't get paid much and doesn't get many minutes. He's a decent role player.
I do think we are in need of a bigger body that can play the 4, defend, and hit the three. There will be matchups where we will need that. And, yes, times where we will have to close with that on the floor. Not often, but a lot more often than the Favors/Gobert tandem closed. We lost a lot of games last year where we could secure a defensive rebound. Aside from Gobert, we didn't have rebounders on the floor because Favors didn't close due to spacing issues. Green rebounds just as well as Favors, but connects on 40.3% from deep on just under 5 attempts per 36. He plays defense.

If we don't want to view him as that important of a piece because he won't close games, then fine. But realize the comparison is Exum, who isn't closing games, and is valuable as a hypothetical.

Is it more or less often than we conflate could have happened and would have happened, in your opinion (should you have one)?

It's a fantastic question. There are plenty of dreamers here who believe all things could happen, and plenty of self-proclaimed realists who counter with saying the only things that could happen are those that did. It's polarized, and each is a reaction to the other, and I'm not one to find myself in either camp, so I'd defend the idea that there are a lot of options out there and the ones that happened are the ones the FO decided happened, and not that the FO only had one decision. That works for both good and bad, and isn't a criticism, but just a statement.

Exum has put on 15lbs of muscle in the off season. Add that to last off season and this past season and know he is ripped. He will be our Lebron/Akashi/PG/Steph/Lillard stopper situational 4 who can guard 4 positions and handle the ball and hit the 3. Win, win, win, win, won.

More weight for his joints to tear lol jk

I’ve decided to just be positive on Exum... so no more dedex jokes from me. What’s done is done... the contract is bad and limited our flexibility this summer but oh well. We have a pretty kickass team and the roster holes have potential solutions or they are fairly routine things we can address later. The big pieces are in place. I’m very pleased with our offseason as is.

I won’t buy into any potential Exum hype until I see it on the court and sustained over 15-20 games. If he’s healthy he’s a fine bench player... if he plays better than that great.

Hmm Sefolosha is still out there. We could use another veteran at the 4. Maybe there is a match.

The Kool Aid I have sipped from has stolen my negativity and replaced it with confidence in Spida, Stifle Tower, Conley, Bog Monster, Larry Ingles, and O’Neale - faith in Green, Davis and Niang, and hope in Exum, Bradley, Mudiay, Oni, Brantley, and JWF.

I have no room for bitter anything. No sweet and sour. It’s all Kool Aid.

I hereby give Exum a break and my hope & positivity.

ThEnd

Dante soft like pampers

You mean soft like Charmin?

“You mother****ers are soft like Charmin in this ************. God damn, is this the type of **** that’s going on in these practices? Now I see why we’ve lost 20 ****ing games. We’re soft like Charmin. We’re soft like ****.”

Kobe Bryant’s outburst at today’s practice was so epic, so quotable and so viral-worthy, even the toilet paper maker had to respond.

I don't think I have ever seen adults throw as much of a fit over Exum and his contract.

Yes, we could have used his money else where. But none of those players are the difference between a championship or not and aren't really making a big difference. Exum could bust and not do anything next year but his salary is low enough who cares. He also has the potential to be a difference maker in the playoffs like he has shown before.
Agreed. I'm really tired of all the Exum banter. Making light of his health like he's a robot or not human or something. It sucks what he's going through. He knows that. He doesn't want to be injured. And if the complaint is that his money could be going to someone better we could hypothetically say that about anyone on the team. I still believe he could become a really solid player, but if he doesn't, I can see why it was a reasonable risk to try and make it happen. Complaining about it doesn't change the circumstances.

Go look at his Instagram feed where some trolls are making fun of him and his health. Terrible.
