I'm still trying to figure out how we did any of this without Randy Rigby

For the past year or more I’ve been meaning to post a Steve Starks appreciation thread, because I didn’t know what that position was for until someone who wasn’t clueless was occupying it.

C-

Jazz gave up a lot for potentially only one year of Conley. I think the risk he opts out and the Jazz are forced to either a) lose him or b) sign him to a big 4-year deal is understated. If you assume AD stays in LA, Conley & Draymond look to be the best potential UFAs in the 2020 class. If he has a good year, there's very little reason for Conley not to opt out and trade some 2020-21 salary for much more $$ long-term.

The advanced metrics don't like Bojan. The BBIndex guy had the Jazz w/52 wins w/Favors and 48 w/Bojan. I get the idea that you can find 80% of Favors (Davis) more cheaply than you find a high quality stretch 4, and I understand there are fit issues w/Derrick next to Gobert. Still, I think the contract is poor value, and it's hard for me to picture a frontcourt with the athleticism of Bojan/Ingles advancing super deep into the playoffs.

I think Green and especially Davis were good pickups. I guess there's something to be said for mixing things up and taking a shot, but I suspect the Jazz will bow out in Round 2. They haven't done anything franchise crippling, but they've sacrificed some long-term assets and flexibility and not greatly enhanced their chances of winning the West, imo.

Hope I'm wrong.

I honestly like this post.

Good to see someone pump the brakes a bit.
Deron Williams is hardly an unbiased opinion though. Jazz PG position has been the “Defense Against the Dark Arts” job ever since he was traded.

Devin Harris
Mo Williams
Trey Burke
Dante Exum
Raul Neto/Shelvin Mack
1/2 a year of George Hill’s toe
Bricky Rubio

Mike Conley. . . Please, dear Lord, break the curse.

Throughout all sports, I have been a fan of the off season champion over a dozen times.

I’ve been a fan of a real champion 4 times, all one team, and they’ve never coincided.

I’m not saying we need to chip. But it would be awesome for it to all actually work out the way we envision it. I’ve been burned so many times (****ing Buccaneers).

In my head it’s so beautiful. Now we wait.

Yeah, Im trying to not get too excited because it will make the wait longer.

Im quite fully aware of who Bojan is.

You say he is entering his as he hits 30. I say the statistics say otherwise. People start the decline in there 30's. Those are just facts kid.

And by the way. There is nothing prime about a guy that can do nothing else but shoot the ball. You need to be able to do other things too.

He's 30 and IS entering the prime of his Career. You say stats say otherwise? Go ahead and produce them, I'm waiting. And please don't call me "kid", it's a little weird when your mother upstairs calls me "Daddy". And yes, although I am post 36 years old and you would consider me to be past my prime, I can assure you that I am well within my prime, as is 30 year old Bojan. I guess 30 years old seems ancient when you're still building baking soda and vinegar volcanoes for your science projects at school. Go play fortnight go to bed, your mother and I need a word with each other behind closed doors.

This is the most excited I have been about an upcoming Jazz season since the late 1990's. People here in Alabama are coming up to me at work, church, and in the neighborhood to talk about the Jazz. Something is happening...
Roll Tide (which is the equivalent of hell yeah by the way)

Still a ton of NBA experts out there that now say the Lakers have the best roster hands down, they will beat the Jazz team like a drum and there headed to the Finals this year guaranteed! They say they will roll over the Jazz, Portland and Denver with little or no effort and be ready to take home the trophy with ease! You know what I say to all of that? Diddlysquat!

Saw this on youtube. I won't embed the link because there's profanity, but this kid's commentary, his catch phrases, and the way he employed profanity, and the way he flippantly described some of our players (trigger warning for fan boys), gave me a good chuckle. Damnit. The link doesn't work. It's in a spoiler now.

You know what I love? Over the last week whenever I have gotten into a debate with someone over where I think the Jazz should rank in the NBA power rankings for next season, or into a debate about whether or not the Jazz are legitimate title contenders, the people I've debated with literally only have one argument they inevitably desperately hold onto by the end of the discussion and that is "but the Jazz have no stars". They have no reasonable argument against us in terms of the actual makeup of the roster, the offense, the defense, the spacing, the shooting, etc.

If "the Jazz have no stars" is all ya got we must be pretty ******* good because that argument isn't even correct
