Ed Davis interview starts at 1:07:42 mark - to listen to the whole thing.

"A guy like me doesn't have all these different options. When July 1 hit, I had four offers - Utah was just a perfect situation. My role backing up Gobert, and the chance to win a championship."

"The other fours teams were Pelicans, Sacramento, a couple more teams..."

"It's all about fit."

"MIke Conley has always been a special player, unselfish, great to play with."

"When I met with Utah, they were just talking about championship, championship, championship. I wasn't shocked about Kwahi going to the Clippers, but I was shocked that OKC made that trade. Now Westbrook is probably going to get moved. This is the first year in the NBA where you don't have a clear cut #1, this is going to be a special year."

Q. I've got guard you out to where? A. I don't shoot jumpers anymore.

Q. In 81 games you took less than 5 jump shots? A. I know I took less than 5 jump shots.

Q. Do you even practice it? A. Now, I'm trying to be as efficient in my training as possible, whatever is going to keep me on the floor. Understanding my role, understanding myself. I'm one of the guys in the locker room, that's really trying to help.

Q. Who is better than I think they are? A. I used to have a hard time guarding Carlos Boozer because he was right-handed, but he shot everything left handed. One time they put in the blender, he scored 5 times in a row. He has a tricky game, and he was strong too.

Q. 80% of your shots come within 2-3 feet. That's a guy that knows what he does. A. For sure.

Q. Why are you in Vegas? A. I've been working out with the Jazz, and meeting people with the staff.

Fat Turkish NBA analyst Kaan Kural is ecstatic about Utah Jazz acquiring Ed Davis.

I liked this interview, BTW. It's interesting with podcasts and twitter and stuff these days where players are opening up on a lot of issues and even other players where they didn't before. It was fairly taboo to make any kind of comments on anyone. Perhaps there was no good platform for it previously, but even in interviews it wasn't the same.

Feeling more confident about him, just hoping he can hit more free throws
He averaged 2 FTA per game last year. He should get about the same amount of minutes. The difference between him shooting 61.7% (which he did last year) vs. shooting 85% is 0.466 points per game. The difference between his current percentage and 75% is 0.266 points per game.

His free throws don't matter. At all.

Until he misses two FTs and the Jazz lose by 1. Then it matters.

Each point of differential translates to 2.7 wins over the course of the season.

So 0.466 points per game = 1.3 wins

1 win can be the difference in playoff seeding.

So yeah, I kinda like to see him improve his free throw percent.

How many games do you think we’ll have where we lose by one and he’s missed two free throws? And, of those games, how many other variables will be present?

Oh, and he’s a great offensive rebounder. How many games will we win by 1 because he put back his own missed free throw?
