Westbrook to Houston for CP3

Would it get me killed if I floated the idea that Donovan Mitchell is maybe, possibly -- at least presently -- equivalent to Westbrook lite? Some of the criticism of Westbrook kind of stings when I think about it.

Jazzfanz hate on Harden and Westbrook just skews their basketball sense to actually think 2 great players that are desperate to win an NBA championship can't play together when they have already done it and actually like each other. They will be the best guard tandem in the NBA easily and Jazz won't be able to contain them as both Harden and Westbrook are better than any guard the Jazz have. Jazz bench and depth will really be needed against the Rockets who are weak there.

Yeah. . . but it would be poetic considering that he tried SO HARD to get away from New Orleans. I wonder if he ends up on the Knicks at the deadline. Presti can stock up on power forwards.
I would love to see cp3 back in New Orleans. Sans ring. Sans anything really. And back to the place he bailed on. Hilarious.

Fair enough. I looked at their stats and Donovan shot higher percentages last year than Westbrook did his MVP year. I wonder why Donovan struck me as so inefficient last year.
Because he struggled as a second year player against the teeth of opposing defenses. I think he did just fine, even with the adjustments defenses made against him. I think with some relief on the offensive end his efficiency will improve. I don't think he'll ever be a 45% 3pt shooter, but I think he'll get his TS% up into the 50's and maybe push to 38% from 3, now that he has help. Could always be wrong of course. I guess this year we will really find out what he is.

Exum is twice as good as both, combined. So, he's like 4 times as good as each one of them, individually. If my maths are correct.

Glad we kept Exum for the bargain price.

There's no way to know for sure, but I think we see a significantly more efficient Mitchell this season with all the additional shooting and floor spacing the Jazz got. The difference, I think, is that Westbrook would still be the inefficient high volume shooter he has always been no matter who he was surrounded by. I hope and expect based on things Mitchell has said, that he will take this opportunity to take better shots, play within the offense more and look to get his teammates involved.

That bench isn't going to warm itself dammit.

I think the big thing is that although he is a good player, WB is a bad matchup against the Jazz, especially in comparison with Paul. WB and Harden will feast against teams with pedestrian rim protection.

He was inefficient... its that people don't realize how inefficient Westbrook is because of the volume... when you have inefficiency at high volume is that a good thing?

OKC was great defensively and there is value to having a volume scorer/creator. Russ is the type of guy that takes a 30 win team to 45 and takes a 60 win team to 50. He can raise a floor but I don't think he raises the ceiling.

It’s being reported that Chris Paul will not play a game in Oklahoma City and that they’re looking to move him immediately.
