So 2025 then? That’s reasonable. My fear is that DL is human enough (as the most managers of aforementioned teams) to not realize the guy wants out before he says he wants out. Lindsey failed to understand what was happening before selfish, b1tch Gordon left us high and dry. It was particularly in that space that Donovan became the city’s emotional and basketball savior, hence the additional overlove from all of us for DM.
Which is why I was so pissed Lindsey made ZERO moves to improve last year in free agency. And drafted wild child Grayson. He made ZERO attempts to surround Don with better NBA talent. Jazz now have a legitimate shot for two years. Woohoothe clock starts ticking...

Clearly contract commitments don’t mean $hit anymore from superstars’ perspectives. Which is why I pray DM really is who he seems like as a person. And doesn’t change that part of himself.

I do think there is a good chance Donovan one day goes to the Knicks. He seems like the kind of guy to go fix them. However, I think it would be way down the road. Like a 3rd or 4th contract thing after he has either...

One thing about Donovan is that he very transparent. If he is considering such a move, he will let us know well beyond the time. So long as we treat him right, he will stay in Utah. He is not enigmatic like Kawhi or a primadonna like LeBron or lacking social skills like AD. He is more like CP3 who while acerbic has always been upfront about his intentions.

Age is going to be a factor here. If Donovan plays out his 2nd contract here he will be age 30 before the season of his 3rd contract begins. For a 6’3” guard that relies on athleticism so much to be quite honest with you he will only have a year or two left where he’s at the top of his game and that’s provided he’s healthy over the next 7 years. There’s subtle things here and there that show it’s a thought he has already. I’ve held the opinion Rudy will ride it out and I think Donovan leaves the first chance he gets. I’d rather I was wrong but I just don’t think so. Idk if it’s the Knicks, could be the Nets, could be something else entirely. The danger of going to the Knicks at that point is completely tarnishing your legacy if things don’t work out.
