Let's quit sugar coating it. No, he is not known as a good defender and never has been. I'm hoping that Quinn Snyders system will change that about him. I am very very happy that he is one the team, but we need to say it like it is. He's going to add tremendous value on our team, but he is a horrific defender. I'm confident that Snyder can change that.
He's not horrible, but he's a better team defender than man-to-man. Gobert and Davis will need to come off and help him once in a while due to lateral quickness problems. That said, I think he projects more as a 4 than a 3 in Utah's system and will spend time there. He's got he frame to guard muscular 3s as well.
Keep in mind also that our "defensive wing specialist", Dante, did a -1.4 DRPM and 110 DRtg last year. Same as Bojan.
