Spidy on Royce

From the Athletic:
"He’s worked tirelessly on his skills, attempting to develop from the 3-point line, which has given him the option as a floor spacer offensively. Those attributes are reasons he may find himself anointed a starter for the first time in his career. “He’s very strong, he has great feet and balance,” Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell said. “He doesn’t reach and he’s composed. His physicality and mentality is great. He understands what’s expected of him. “His preparation and instincts separate him. He could be one of the best defenders in the league, he really has those tools.”

Awesome but "anointed as starter"? In place of whom?

Besides that, he's got all the tools to be a legit player in this league. Next step is consistency.

stills too early to know, even more as there's still the fiba wc, start of camp, preseason games and all, but one already well mentioned possibily is that ingles goes to a 6th man role (that closes out games)

He would be the 4. I think that's very much in the realm of possibility. I think starting 4 is going to be fluid, but it could well be that Royce is the default.

Ingles would come off the bench.

That would be fine with me but I'm not overly sold on him being a most time 4. I think Quin starts one of the new guys(Green) at the 4 and has Ingles and Royce man the second unit while sprinkling them in with the starting unit depending on the situation.

We'll see. My initial impression would be that Green would technically be the starter (but not the closer), but some of the rumors suggest that Royce might get the job.

Yup, I guess we'll see. If Royce can take that starting 4 position it would mean he earned it and that would just make us that more dangerous. I'm pretty skeptical at this juncture though but hope he proves me wrong.

Glad Royce is working hard. When he's on the floor I always tend to watch him for stretches as he always seems to know exactly what's going on and never seems caught off-guard. That and he's always trying to make plays on offense as he's a team player. Watching him play in person is a lot of fun.

If Royce is our 4 then I’m just gonna come out and say that the power forward position is dead. Everyone is just playing with 3 wings now.
