LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson asked Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday to suspend Parliament, throwing down the gauntlet to his critics and causing outrage among opposition leaders who will have even less time to thwart a no-deal Brexit.

Johnson told lawmakers he has decided to ask the monarch to give her speech that outlines the government’s legislative agenda on Oct. 14. Since Parliament is normally suspended before the speech, the decision means opposition lawmakers would be unlikely to have enough time to pass laws blocking the U.K.’s exit from the European Union without a negotiated deal on Oct. 31.

Interesting. Are you insinuating that the conservative movement in our country is suffering from an intelligence vacuum? As if they’ve sacrificed expertise and scientific thought in favor of short-term election wins and cheap nationalism emotion?

If you make that inference, I find no reason to dispute it, but I was not implying that specifically.

In order for one to believe that the EU needs The UK more than the UK needs to the EU, one must completely throw all history, economic thought, and common sense out the window.

The Troubles in Ireland will reignite. the economic costs will be enormous for the UK. And just the common sense of being a part of the EU, an organization that has spread unprecedented peace and stability throughout Europe, is just unfathomable.

There is a right and wrong or black and white on certain issues.

This is one of them.

All of which was widely reported by experts prior to the Brexit vote. But you know, what do experts know? Vote for Brexit? Empower a reality tv star to the White House. Trust Hollywood celebrities over doctors on vaccinations. What could possibly go wrong?

It's amazing how many conservatives bash the EU and NATO, the two greatest organizations that have been responsible for the greatest peace and prosperity the European continent has ever known.

The ignorance of so many is just appalling. They're literally ignoring millenia of evidence.

There are clearly things that the Brits don't like about it. They don't like being controlled by non-British governance. They don't like having British wages driven down by immigrant labor. They don't like being buried in climate change related regulations and costs. They don't like the idea of one world order that has apparently become so appealing to the liberal crowd.

Obviously, there were things that the Britons did not like. This does not change how the EU was an economic boon.
