What's new

Favors can jump really high and has really long arms!

And he plays very good fundamental defense. Just imagine what this "kid" will do once he matures a little, adds a 10-12 footer and gains confidence in his overall game. Favors, Kanter, Burks and Hayward are going to be very good starters at some point - and the Jazz are going to have one of the best young starting lineups in the league - comparable to what OKC has put together. I think Utah is going to be a LOT better than many think even next year.

My opinion is Favors has a good little 10-12 footer. His stroke is money and light years ahead of other bigs if you watch his stroke.

His confidence will only grow with playing time which hopefully Corbin realizes and gets him 25+ minutes per game. Staying out of foul trouble is a different story.

On the O end of the court he just needs to improve his footwork. With his combo of speed and strength if he could improve that one piece he would rarely need that 10-12 footer.

I agree totally, but I am concerned if Corbin is smart enough to give them enough minutes of playing time for them to develop quickly.

Favors was getting some pretty good PT near the end of the season. Hayward will be a starter.
As much as we all want Kanter and Burks to be great from Day 1, they're rookies. And rookies are going to struggle and get in foul trouble when they do play. Burks probably has more opportunity to play right away than does Kanter. Barring any trades or the unlikely return of AK, SF/SG is a 4-man rotation (Hayward, CJ, Burks and Bell), with Millsap perhaps getting a few spot minutes at the 3. Pencil Hayward in at 30 mins and CJ at 25-30. That leaves 35-40 mins for the others - plenty of time for Alec and Raja. Bell or CJ can be traded at the deadline if Burks is ready to start that soon.

I think Kanter will take longer to develop. I don't see him averaging more than 10 mins/per. No team goes through a season without injuries, so the logjam at the 4/5 is only an issue if/when ALL five are healthy. Limit Jefferson and Millsap to 30 mins MAX and tell them the reduced time allows them to give 100% on both ends. Give Favors 25 mins consistently. Memo gets 10 post-injury and Kanter plays when matchups, injuries or foul trouble by the others creates an opportunity. Same thing as Burks...if/when Kanter shows he's ready for major minutes, you shop Millsap or Jefferson.

I have a feeling Hayward and Bell are going to start the games, but there will be a quick sub of either Miles or Burks for Raja.

Also, I wouldn't limit Jefferson to 30 minutes. I would give him 35. He is by far our best offensive player and we need him out there. Sap, on the other hand, I agree with because of his physical stability last year.

I agree with Kanter. I think its crazy what some people are predicting he could average (given minutes). I don't care if he gets 30 mpg, he isn't putting up 13 and 8. He has been out of basketball for too long and now he is going up against the best of the best. I

agree on all counts. Although I think starting Bell would be more of a Sloan thing to do. It would send a message if Corbin benched Bell. Especially since Raja was talking all that trash about him in the media.

His vertical is just as high as Blake Griffin's, with 3-4 more inches of reach...

His combine numbers, were pretty much identical to Dwight Howard's.

Griffin has obviously improved his vertical leap since the combine happened.

They both posted 35.5, that seems about right... I also would find it very unlikely that Griffin's vert improved after a year rehabbing an injured knee.

He was doing some pretty insane things at Oklahoma, so if he did improve his vertical then I don't think it was by much.

Or you have to take such measurements with a block of salt.

Anyone remember Luke Babbitt's performance?

I agree. Technically speaking, Babbitt should be able to yam just as impressive Griffin.

Babbitt:
Wingspan: 6'11"
Reach: 8.8"
Step vertical: 37.5

Griffin:
Wingspan: 6'11"
Reach: 8.9"
Step vertical: 35.5"
