FIBA Game thread 9/12-15

That's so exciting for Ricky! Good for him.

And congrats to Rudy for the bronze.

Even though I haven't been able to watch much of this tournament, it has been fun to follow it. Congrats to all our Jazzmen.

So Rudy has his worst game of the tournament; France's no-name backup outplayed him. France wins. Ingles had a nice bounce back game, but Australia lost. Aussies couldn't hit their 3's. That was the difference in the game, along with TO's.

I'm predicting a few "we shouldn't have let Ricky go" threads. He's going to have a very good season now that he's not being asked to be a primary 3pt shooter. He no longer has to defer to a ball-dominant, inefficient SG. Booker will take a ton of shots, but a lot of those will come off Rubio passes.

I love Mitchell, but let's face facts... He is NOT a shooter. He's still a tweener and will be until the Jazz get a stud 3PT shooter at the 2 and move him to PG. Fortunately, Conley has enough shooting to somewhat mitigate this when they're on the court together, But if you want to continue to call Mitchell a SG, he either needs to improve his shooting or the Jazz need to find a Derek Fisher-type PG. In his prime, Fisher was a perfect complement to Kobe. He'd bring the ball up, then pass it to Kobe and stand behind the arc while Bryant did his thing.

Have you seen his catch and shoot numbers?

Likely a lot better than Donovan. Mitchell is a spectacular dunker - shooting, not so much. He needs to become much better if he's to become a superstar or even an all-star. And that was my biggest disappointment in the World Cup; Donovan looks no better than last season. Although he did make strides defensively and as a PG.

Mitchell looked good without kemba.

I'm just relieved this thing's finally over and all three of our guy's made it through without any injuries. Now lets get them all back to Salt Lake and get ready for the season.

Yeah, Utah Jazz are the big winners simply because none of our players got hurt.

Donovan’s catch and shoot numbers are great.

I think that Donovan is truly humble and genuinely loyal towards Jazz. But still it can be valuable that he just saw how it would be for him to play with the players who are not so unselfish as our guys. I think it will make him appreciate the chance he got with Jazz and Quin's coaching even more.
Overall as everybody I am happy all our players made it healthy through the tournament. And the world cup itself has been great thing to kill the offseason waiting.
