Lowe calls Jazz contenders but...

That was a good read by Zach Lowe of ESPN, thank you for that. I do feel that he's dead wrong in a lot of areas about the Jazz and other teams.
He is right about Donovan not being a D-Wade, because they're two completely different players! D-Wade was great in his own right, but when HE was young he was being compared to Allen Iverson and even at times, Michael Jordan. Comparisons have become the default go-to if you want to explain someones talent. D-Wade obviously didn't follow a path of either player. He became Dwyane Wade and paved his own path. Donovan is one of those great players that's very special. He won't follow a path of another player before him. He's Donovan "Spida" Mitchell and he's going to do his own thing and it's going to be great. I think writers are cornered into comparisons because they're weak at making a good point without going to a past player that the audience can identify with.

I do know this,
Donovan is going to explode as an elite player of the NBA for years to come, and I'm so happy he's on the Jazz!!!

I think the Jazz are the best team in the west, assuming they stay healthy.

I'm betting on Royce O'Neale to be the new Bryon Russell.

I disagree.

The jazz are good yes, but the clippers have 2 headed monster of PG and Leonard. Two players who can defend anybody and score on anybody.

Also 6th man of the year who can catch fire at any time. And dont forget they have a decent zubac, not world destroyer, but a serviceable guy.

Also they have a draymond green like motor downlow in montrell.

Zubac is severely underrated. He's going into his 4th year and still just 22. Dude, imo, has potential to be an All Star if he keeps getting better.

zubac and harrell are really nice players, but i don't think they're better as centers than as jingles is good as a sf now. speaking of centers, i see the pelicans getting favors coming out this offseason with a better player there than the clippers.

They don't have a starting-caliber point guard to run the offense though. That's something they'll need to address with their roster. It was apparent in their pre-season game against Houston. Patrick Beverly and Landry Shamet are guys who normally play off the ball next to another lead guard. They're both limited playmakers.

The Clips will play through Kawhi and PG on offense, and they'll rely on those two to create shots, but it's likely to result in a lot of isos and mid-range shots. Doc is also a pretty pedestrian coach and probably won't come up with a solution. Their best playmaking guard right now is probably Terance Mann.

Zubac is okay, but he's their only real big. Harrell is a backup. Kabengele isn't ready yet.

They obviously have some really nice pieces, but their lack of a floor general in the backcourt is going to hold back their offense. When Doc has been successful in the past, he's had a guard like Rondo, CP3 or even SGA to run the team.
