Following Potential 2020 draftees

Oh also I've been watching PLENTY of NBL streams on Twitch, and will continue to do so. Looks like they will continue to try and poach top HS talent over there for 1 year rentals, latest word is Jalen Suggs (who's gonna end up at Gonzaga if he doesnt go pro early). I mostly try and catch RJ Hampton, but have seen LaMelo twice too. Very fun league. Fun atmosphere. Be warned -- The Twitch chat is outrageous during any LaMelo broadcast, dumb trolls saying hes trash at every miss, or he's going #1 at every make, but it's a decidedly un-american crowd during the normal streams.

There's of course these wild territorial fans who try and say things like "If Hampton and LaMelo are going to be top picks in the draft, I dont think the US should have much hope for the future" which is ofcourse absurd.

RJ has passed the eye test to me with FLYING COLORS, as he always had tbh. Looks like a top-5 pick to me. Plays with great awareness for an 18 year old in a league full of way older players.

Lots of familiar names and faces on these teams.

The chats don't sound much different from those in the NBA streams ones. Reading all those unintelligible posts by our youth, I fear for the future of the country.

It really is something to behold, and not for any good reasons.. I genuinely dont get it.. What a waste of time..

Twitch chat is fine for small streams where you can interact with the streamer, but for large streams forget about it. Unintelligible trash that I just hide for any large broadcast.

Holy.. Boise St beat Life Pacific (sounds like some insurance company) 126-49

Here's some day1 sleepers who performed well;

Cheick Mbackwe Diong career high 17 points, 17 boards, 4blocks for UNLV. This kid is legit.

Really big debuts for 3freshman at USC -- Okongwu with damn near a triple double, 20-13 (7oboards) and 8 blocks! Isaiah "wait til you see my lil brother" Mobley with 17-11 and Max Agbonkpolo makes every shot for a cool 10pts.

Corey Kispert (Gonzaga 6'7 SF JR.) career high 28 pts. This kid is gonna light it up all szn.

Gonzaga's bigman trio of Petrusev, Zhakarov and Drew Timme are way better than casual fans realize... way better..

Sam Vecenie put out his Mock Draft 1.0 in The Athletic. If anyone has a name and are curious where they are on his list (or if they are on it) let me know. Here's the top 10 and a paragraph of his reasoning.

1. Cole Anthony - UNC

2. Anthony Edwards - Georgia

3. James Wiseman - Memphis

4. Tyrese Maxey - Kentucky

5. LaMelo Ball - Illawarra Hawks

6. Theo Maledon - ASVEL

7. Deni Avdija - Maccabi Tel Aviv

8. R.J. Hampton - New Zealand Breakers

9. Kahlil Whitney - Kentucky

10. Isaiah Stewart - Washington

What are the chances this guys up at 4 in the morning watching these NBL games? Judging by what he wrote, and my observations watching said games ---- I'd say slim and none...

I dont think RJ Hampton has been focused more on scorign than distributing, thats not what I see out there at all. I'm certain neither is the focus... I think his team doesnt want him doing too much(sometimes at their own expense) and to just make good plays in the flow of the game --- and thats exactly what he's been doing..

I really think RJ Hampton passes the "Franchise PG" eyetest with flying colors, and am weary of any mock that doesnt have him top-5

6'1" Freshman PG DJ Carton on OSU is their best prospect, for sure. Worth keeping an eye on. Playing well in his debut, wonder how long they can keep him out of the starting lineup.

Aren't Hampton's shooting numbers down under a lot better than Ball's are?

Also, one prospect you missed a couple posts above who had a stellar debut, was Dosunmu at Illinois.

Also Precious had a nice game for Memphis.

Yeah Hampton's shooting #'s are good across the board, shot looks pure out of his hand. He looks really, really good to me on the eyetest. Im rather confident he's underrated in the recent mocks.. Handle is really quite excellent for a tall PG, he's got a strong offhand, keeps his head up and scans the floor even while pressured. His BBIQ is impressive, he has a great feel for the game. Like the way he moves off the ball. Really like the way he jumps passing lanes defensively too. He plays a clean game, I'm not sure how some are losing confidence in him.

This PG crop is sneaky good.

Precious is lottery bound. Kid is a monster, he's like Anunoby. I was trying to keep it more towards sleepers, and Precious is pretty much can't miss in this crop. Caught the opener, DJ Jeffries was super effective in his minutes. Boogie Ellis had a forgettable opener, Quinones too. Memphis is LUH-OADED, must watch.

Illinois struggled with Nichols state, Ayo Dosunmu can do no wrong if he makes his 3's, 1/1 in the opener. 2ast 5 to's. He's an interesting player to watch, especially in this years field of combo-y guards, his ability to get to the rack is as good as any of em.

Oh I saw this stat the other day, worth a post;

The only Freshman in NCAA history to shoot 40+% on 270 3-pt attempts are; Steph Curry, Jamal Murray and Isaiah Joe.

24pts 5 boards and 7 assists for him in Arkansas opener
