Korver on being traded

Was surprised how he responded and didn’t try to really sell a PR answer. Would have liked to have posted this somewhere else because I’m not 100% sure it’s a great thread, but didn’t know where else to put it, and since there’s not a game thread.

One question that I’ve always felt was interesting is if we’d rather have Exum and Green or Korver and Crowder. Hopefully Exum can contribute and be healthy, but imagine Korver getting all of Niang’s minutes.

Korver gave us a much needed boost. I have no problem with his answer at all. He really wore down last year to the point he was unplayable. I think hes a regular season player at this point that may not provide anything during the playoffs.

With what we paid in the Conley deal I would have made them swallow Exum's contract and kept Jae... I don't think the Jazz saw it that way (Exum's contract being bad) but I bet it could have been done.

At this point in his career Korver is more or less a guy who stands in the corner and waits for the kick out.

That's not really what The Jazz offense is about.

Having him running curls and dancing around screens really wore him down last year.

If his minutes were managed so he is not totally washed up when playoffs come I would still take him over Niang.

Also... we have guys on the bench right now that should be stealing Niang's minutes... so that's not the best reference point. Sorry Georges... You are my guy but you gotta do better.

Yeah, l agree. I still would have kept him. FO didn't see it that way.

Loved Korver and even battled for him in certain threads but he was unplayable when we needed him the most. Im guessing he was in our plans but this summer brought top much opportunity. I have no issue with his comments.

The Jazz relied on Korver WAY too much. He played too many minutes, and when he was on the floor, he was being used as a weapon, not as a release valve because the team was so depressingly anemic on offense. He’s a playoff piece when he’s not ground into dust.

And virtually any scenario where the Jazz aren’t saddled with Exum’s baggage and salary is *drumroll* obviously ****ing preferable.

There were a lot of reasons to like the Conley trade, but the relationships they burned were certainly not one of them.

Burks got a similar contract from the jazz and had similar injuries, but exum will have to work hard to ever deliver what burks did.

I would love to know what was happening after Korver got traded and waived. It is baffling to me that the Jazz wouldn’t have tried to re-sign him then, especially after seeing the depth issues so far this year.

I'm pretty sure they can't trade him then re-sign him within a year or something. Remember all those guys with big salaries back in the day that would get traded, cut, and re-signed by the team that moved them... I don't think the NBA liked that.

He got traded to Phoenix, though, which made him eligible to be resigned.

I agree with Numb, if he's on the roster he's a great add in the locker room, and if his minutes are balanced which could happen with the makeup of this team then he would be a great add for the playoffs. When he was dead towards the end of the season he couldn't do much for us.

Iirc it was either him or Green, and JFC agreed with the sentiment that we needed some sort of stretch 4 because the idea of Royce, Bog, and Ingles playing the 4 all year was not enough.

I think this was and is one of the things that bugs people about still having Exum on the team for 10 Mil a year. We could have 4 Korvers for his contract so he better show up this year.

I think that’s my biggest beef. Collateral is already Korver and Crowder. Opportunity cost is guys like Aminu, Marcus Morris, JaMychal Green, Caruso, etc.

I think he should be treated the other way around. Play enough during the regular season to keep him in shape and in rhythm then have him full strength in the playoffs.

But after Green weren't we basically out of money with just enough to cover the scrubs after? I could be wrong, and would have welcomed Korver back. We could use a knock down bench scorer.
